Next time you see a Guardian headline about "Britons", remember this!
"Most people in Scotland say their only national identity is Scottish – with the number of people describing themselves as Scottish and British plummeting.
"[Scottish] Census data... show that 65.5% of the population had Scottish as their only identity – an increase from 62.4% in 2011."
Voters in Scotland remember this: for Tories and Labour England is the priority and will always come first. Scotland will only ever - ever - get what it needs or wants if it happens to coincide with what England wants. Use your vote wisely. #IndependenceIsNormal#UKGeneralElection#ukge2024#scotpol#Scotland
From BetterTogether "save our NHS by voting No" in 2014, to Labour “The NHS must be privatised." What a difference 10 years make. #IndependenceIsNormal#Scotland
Read the news you're not getting: In England, the only country in the world to have fully privatised water & sewerage systems, raw sewage was discharged into rivers and seas for more than 3.6m hours in 2023. More than double 2022. Meanwhile Scottish Water, publicly owned, has invested nearly 35 per cent more per household in infrastructure since 2002 than the privatised English firms, charging 14 per cent less and not paying out dividends. #IndependenceIsNormal#Scotland#TheNewsYoureNotGetting
Independent Portugal generated the equivalent of 91% of its electricity needs through renewables by March 2024.
It has Europe's lowest power prices.
Non independent Scotland generated the equivalent of 113% of its overall electricity needs through renewables in 2022.
It has the UK's highest power prices. #IndependenceIsNormal#Scotland
Since the 2014 'Vow' of more powers Westminster has accelerated the hobbling of Scotland's devolved choices and is now actively overruling what Scottish voters want and have voted for in elections. Increasingly Scotland must use its remaining devolved powers any way it chooses as long as that is the same way that England does.

"#Scotland wasn’t mentioned once in [UK] Labour’s big pre-election pitch today [16/5/24].
"[Neither in] Starmer’s 2,631 word speech. Nor the hefty 5,724-word press release which included comments from the likes of Ed Milliband and Yvette Cooper.
"... neither Wales nor Northern Ireland were mentioned either."
Meanwhile ‘renewables powerhouse’ Scotland pays the highest electricity bills in the UK, and the highest transmission charges in Europe to feed our power into the ‘national’ grid. Would any other country put up with this rip-off? #IndependenceIsNormal
It's fascinating. The sizeable pro-independence minority of c45% of the electorate in Catalunya is simply being written off and ignored by the Spanish media, along with their desire for independence.
It's like in Scotland after 18/9/14 when 45% voted to dissolve the "union". We can all see where that's ended up: the Unionist bloc has nothing left except lies, absurd slurs and threats and is targeting independence supporters as "extremists".
"The real tragedy here is that the ‘change’ that Keir Starmer promises is no change at all, all he offers is the same corporate private sector bullshit repackaged and rebranded and he will do nothing to change the dysfunctional structures of Westminster upon which he depends as much as Sunak for the near absolute power both of them crave."
"An extremism expert has warned there is a danger that campaigning for – or even debating – #ScottishIndependence could come under UK counter-extremism legislation in the future.
"Professor Chris Allen – who leads the extremism hub at Leicester University’s Centre for Hate Studies – told @TheNational that Yessers could potentially even be referred to the [UK] Home Office’s 'Prevent' counter-extremism programme."
So the Migrant Advisory Committee, after a 14 week investigation has found 'no evidence' of any deliberate abuse of the international student visa scheme;
they're coming here to study.
As the FT delicately puts it:
this has 'placed Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in a bind, forcing him to either confront those on the Conservative right who want it scrapped, or ignore the advisory group'!
Watch this space.... which way he jumps will tell us a lot about the future of the (rump of) the Tory party
"Opposing the corruption and sclerosis of an undemocratic Westminster system while wanting a #Scotland with a written constitution, a legally binding and absolute guarantee of civil liberties, human rights, democratic safeguards, and a return to a closer relationship with the #EU makes you an extremist now. Who knew?"
“INDEPENDENCE supporters risk repeating the lost 2014 referendum due to a lack of understanding about why the Yes campaign failed, it has been warned as a new campaign looks to resolve the issue.”
But we know why it failed: too many people were scared, successfully, by ‘Project Fear’ and the predominantly pro-union media, & particularly by the BBC. As Blair Mcdougall so clearly put it “We’d have struggled to win without the scaremongering.” #IndependenceIsNormal#Scotland https://www.thenational.scot/news/24317446.didnt-scotland-vote-yes-2014-new-survey-aims-find-answer/
"Speaking at an event in London organised by the Policy Exchange think tank, Sunak claimed that "an axis of authoritarian states" were attempting to undermine British values.
"In a passage under the heading "The dangers", Sunak listed Russia, Iran, North Korea, antisemitism, "gender activists", and finally "Scottish nationalism" as posing threats to the UK."
