My husband got upgraded to first class on his 12 hour flight. I was in the cheapest economy saver seat because I work with non-profits and he works for Big Tech Co. (We were on different flights.)

You might say our Lufthansa experience “was a little different for me…”

Research does not support the widespread belief that blue light emitted by electronic device screens in the evening is worse than warmer colored light when trying to fall asleep.

My next post is an expansion of an earlier thread on Mastodon.

I was curious about what percentage of people visiting my site had set preferences for light/dark mode, reduced motion, or increased contrast. I also wanted to know what percentage had HDR support.

I figured out how to do that custom tracking with @plausible and wrote a tutorial.

Today in “community servers were a mistake”: I got temporarily banned from mastodon dot green for this gif, so I no longer recommend it as a community server.

What level Marriott Bonvoy status gets me a room without tiny lights or panels glowing at night?

Power outlets that support the weight of a wall wart?

How about for a tv with motion smoothing and color modifications disabled?

I didn’t bring enough duct tape to cover all the lights in my room AND hold my laptop power in the socket.

Apparently my husband and I are so obviously gay a South Korean taxi driver felt the need to put on praise & worship music when we got in.

Jesus said be a light unto the world and I’m flaming, honey.

🧳I’m going to Seoul, South Korea next week. What should I see and do?

Art, history, nature, live music, nightlife, and gay stuff are of interest. I’m ok being a tourist. Day trips ok too, but I don’t have a driver’s license. Plant-based food recommendations especially appreciated.

Hey @MDN, with Stack Overflow’s ongoing community implosion, now would be an excellent time to launch MDN Answers so people have a better place to help each other learn.

Apple AirDrop has gotten much less reliable in the last year. It used to always work like magic. Now, it seems to fail half of the time on transfers between me and friends and between my own devices.

Also, the bump mega vibration screen ripple thing sends a contact card instead of the thing someone is trying to share often enough to never use it.

The only fix is both sides doing an airplane mode toggle. Annoying. Not magic.

~“the ad says something about balance of power. Apple is a great tech company, but a legendary marketer. Its ads, keynotes, stores offer a vision of its products as tools that give consumers power. The commercial is a display of force that reminds us about this sleight of hand. We are not the powerful entity in this relationship. The creative potential we feel when we pick up their devices is actually on loan. At the end of the day, it belongs to Apple, the destroyer.”

The hostility of governments towards tourists with ADHD who just want to take their medication is a true test of the effectiveness of that medication.

Within the EU, I must fill out a form with my pharmacist for them to file for each trip beyond Sverige’s border.

For my trip to Korea, I must download 2 Word docs from a website in Korean, submit a copy of my passport, flight information, notarized English translation of my Swedish prescription, and email it all 10 days before travel.

My sleep has been shit the last few weeks.

Will I survive a Barry’s Bootcamp class on 5 hours of sleep? Let’s find out! Because it’s too late to cancel and not lose the money.

At least the weather is nice. 4° and pouring rain.

According to the UN, Israel currently is killing or injuring 1 Palestinian child every 10 minutes.

Therefore, I (and over 1,000 music artists in Sverige) think Israel should not be permitted to participate in .

I hope Malmö police handle the protests better than how Stockholm’s police handled the BLM solidarity protest during the pandemic.

51% of the Swedish immigrants who will be forced to leave under a proposed Moderaterna and SD policy will be recent university graduates with the most in-demand skills, according to a study by the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise.

Institutionalizing xenophobia with public policy intended to limit "low-qualified labor migrants" is bad for the economy.

Why can EU companies not use US-based cloud infrastructure and SaaS products?

Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act allows the US government to force US companies to share foreign customer data without a warrant or disclosure.

There is no way to reconcile US govt surveillance with the EU’s Charter of Fundamental Rights on privacy.
