I ordered a pair of headphones on Amazon and went back to check the delivery date (as it is about a week and not next-day).
Now when I visit that page I see that there are 3 versions: Gen 1(old package) Gen 1 (new package) and Gen 2 (new package) versions available for the exact same price - which I missed somehow when I ordered my headset⟶ Gen 1 (old package) !
So I essentially helped the Shure company empty their old product stock for the exact same price as their most recent Gen 2 model.
I'm just assuming that, two generations later, there would be significant upgrades and not just "packaging" changes.
So why isn't the Gen 1 (old package) discounted?
Has anyone else run into this scenario before?

NPR sneaking in some nice puns and descriptions into this Red Lobster bankruptcy article. I'll just cut to the chase...

  1. Red Lobster, now the largest seafood chain, did not get cooked just recently.
  2. And during this cultural shift, Red Lobster's finances have floundered.

Nice work, NPR.

I watched the movie "Dodgeball" yesterday, and I'm confident enough to start producing a movie called "Whiffleball."

Now what I need from you all is who would you like to see in a cameo role?

Not sure if there are any Latin/Jazz music lovers out there; I'm plugging my good friend, former college roommate, and fellow musician, Jon Ball as he joins
"Gonzalo Grau & La Clave Secreta" at the Lincoln Center in NYC!
This ~ 2 hour event will be live-streamed on the Lincoln Center website as well as YouTube (link below).
La Clave Secreta has been together for 15 years and their eclectic blend is son cubano, jazz, rhumba, R&B, and funk... so tune-in an turn it up! 7:30p EST ⟶ there's a countdown timer on the YouTube site that should align with anyone's time zone)
⟶ If you know someone who might like some free, live music streamed tonight, boost it out! ⟵

My son loves to sit out on our front steps and feed the blue jays peanuts (in the shell). And now my wife and I have taken to doing the same. Jays are Corvids and that means they are very smart birds. They come around about the same time each day and announce themselves with various calls and screeches. We will attract upwards of 5-6 jays at a time; perching in the maple tree out front and diving to pick up peanuts we toss out.
Yesterday, our kid placed peanuts on a porch railing and set up his phone cam to shoot video of the thieves in action. No sooner had he stepped inside and the nuts were gone! Here is that video.

"The prosecution is effectively using Trump himself as a witness here. In his own words — as laid out in his books — Trump is describing how he keeps a focus on minute details and watches every penny that leaves his accounts, a core part of the prosecution’s case against him. He’s also describing how he sees sexual potential in random women that he encounters." -Jonathan Swan, NYT

So... I left Evernote months ago when they hiked their pro plan subscription (like 163% !) It was bloated, and their free plan was crippled; that + the company had been struggling for years to find a CEO who could bring some kind of vision back to the app. It all flopped and they were sold to Bending Spoons.

Over the ensuing months, I was fortunate to find a replacement! An Open Source, fully encrypted, Evernote killer. And what a note taking app it has become.

A major release (v3.0) was launched officially today. 8 months of non-stop development and testing by a two-man Dev team has really brought this app center stage. These guys are hands-on with listening to user feedback on their NN Discord server; when they find time to sleep beats me (the plight of the developer).
Read about this latest journey AND all of the great new features of v3.0 that are note-taking game changers, on their blog post:

https://blog.notesnook.com/introducing-notesnook-v3/

You're going to hear more about Notesnook in the weeks and months to come and it won't be coming from me. It will be from a growing userbase that can't help but share the awesomeness that Notesnook brings to notetaking.

"It’s remarkable that more than half of the potential jurors brought in for a first round of questioning immediately said they could not hear Trump’s case fairly. We knew that it would be hard to pick a jury, but a fail rate of 50 percent or higher right out of the gate is surpassingly rare." - Alan Feuer, NYT

These "Buy Five And Save" sale incentives only serve a few shoppers.
The local, big chain, grocery store runs these ads and throughout the whole store.
Hey Meijer, you're not a Costco or Sam's Club. My wife and I don't need 5 farking bags of chips just to save $1.50 per unit. Oh, cereal is on sale? Buy 5 boxes to save!

They do what I do: Keep walking and wonder who the f**k thought up this business model.

I have the all-silver version* of this ditty. Slim, sharp, blade. Nail file & 2.5mm screwdriver, and spring loaded scissors (which I end up using more than the blade!) There's a ring to place it on your keychain, too.
