Přizám se, že po nějaké době hostování svého mastodoního serveru uvažuji o přesunu na Mastodon Social, protože mi někdy chybí kontext kvůli chybějícím komentářům pod příspěvky.

Vím, že je dost lidí na Mastodonu k integraci Threads do fediverse skeptická. Je ale super zpráva, že jde díky adopci otevřeného protokolu sledovat i nejmocnější muž na světě bez účtu na Metě či X.

Huh, I almost fell for what I assume is a phishing SMS. I do indeed have an O2 contract expiring on 20.01.2024 and O2 often spams me with SMS messages from random numbers.

But here the link is fishy! Instead of o2online.de which is their actual domain, the domain here is de-simverwalten.digital and the line braking just hides this. Clever little bastards! I wonder how they know when my cancellation date is...

We really need to address the preservation of Adobe Flash software. I understand that Flash had its flaws, like being buggy, slow, resource-intensive, and a security risk.

However, we can't deny that a massive portion of the internet relied heavily on Adobe Flash, and now so much of it has vanished. I'm talking about interactive rich media sites, videos, animations, and video games – all with countless hours of development – that are no longer accessible.

This realization hit me when I tried to play the popular Flash game SpeedRunner. Unless you install Flash, which has been deprecated for a while now, you can't play the original game. I'm not referring to the remake on Xbox 360 or the ports to Steam, Switch, and iOS. I mean the original SpeedRunner, the one you could play directly in a web browser.

Enthusiasts dedicated to retro computing and gaming put a lot of effort into preserving software from platforms like DOS, Commodore 64, and NES. However, despite Flash being used by almost everyone with internet access, a great deal of its software and media is at risk of being forgotten. It's a bit disheartening because I believe future generations won't truly understand the early internet without the preservation of Flash software.

This doesn't mean Flash was perfect or that it didn't deserve to be deprecated. But it's also unfortunate when a significant part of our culture goes unnoticed or is simply forgotten.

Every time I mentioned a Fairphone in a Friday Checkout we got great views. Clearly there is a lot of interest, so I got a review unit. What would you like to know about either the phone or the company behind it?

@Techaltar I may be a bit biased because I have FP4 and it has a few problems. So I'm mainly interested to see if they managed to fixed them with this new generation. So, how's the camera quality, especially in low light or when you want to take quick moving shots? Can you access the ultra-wide sensor in alternative apps such as Open Camera? How is screen readability in sunlight? (Any problems such as dimming or proximity sensor issues?) Is the auto-rotate function responsive or sluggish? Thanks

Fairphone 5 je dodáván s operačním systémem Android 13 a měl by dostávat aktualizace operačního systému až do verze Android 18! Bezpečnostní aktualizace až do roku 2031. Jednoduché opravy. Ten telefon se mi začíná líbit :-)

@jakubzelenka @archos Hejtit to z těchhle důvodů je fakt neoprávněný. Mám FP4 a výkonově naprosto stačí. Na druhou stranu, některý části HW jsou nedomyšlený a SW má řadu chyb, který nebyli schopný opravit víc jak rok. Displej má zvláštní problémy s citlivostí, ribbon cable je umístěnej tak blbě, že se dře o hranu kovu a odnáší to izolace. Prakticky celý léto je problém se stmíváním displeje, proximity sensor blbne na slunci, atd. Snad se u FP5 poučili. Ale FP4 bych s čistým svědomím nedoporučil.

@jaandrle Ono nejde o to, že to má tolik chyb (procento zasaženejch lidí je taky faktor). Hlavní problém je, že to nejsou schopný víc jak rok vyřešit. A kolikrát se zaměřej na prkotiny, který vlastně nikomu nevaděj, a vážný problémy nechávaj ležet ladem. Zdroj toho problému IMHO je, že nemaj in-house SW tým, ale vývoj outsourcujou.

Blbnutí launcheru bude nejspíš problém Androidu obecně, zvlášť gesture navigation je u 3rd party launcherů nepoužitelná

začne nabízet 5 let security updatů (3 major). Ovšem zatím jen u Xiaomi 13, 13 Pro a Redmi K60 Ultra (což pořád není úplně budget model). Takže reálně furt můžu běžnejm smrtelníkům doporučovat jenom , případně (pro fajnšmekry ). Loni k Vánocům jsme tchyni kupovali Samsung Galaxy A33. Stál cca 6,5k, ale dostane 4 major updaty a 5 let security updatů. To prostě zatím v světě nikdo netrumfnul. Ale je hezký vidět, že se to postupně začíná lámat.

V roce 2019 mi vládní zmocněnec pro digitalizaci Vladimír Dzurilla říkal, že to bude trvat už jen rok a řidičáky půjde vyměňovat online, bez front, bez čekání na úřadech.
Srpen 2023 a titulek otvíráku MfD: Na nové řidičáky se stojí ve frontách.
Ne, tahle země nechce být moderní.

@filort @jankubita Hádám, že vyměňovat online znamená, že pokud má člověk v systému relativně aktuální fotku, tak mu novej řidičák přijde poštou, stejně jako kreditka. Tzn. bez nutnosti na ten úřad fyzicky chodit.

@ricmac I don't really care what platform a particular user uses. As long as the platform supports ActivityPub and I can interact with them in the same way I can with people using Friendica or Misskey, it's purely about whether I like the content they share.

, , … A je v tom vlastně vůbec nějakej rozdíl? Jakákoli komerčně motivovaná sociální síť bude vždycky chtít vytěžit vaše data. O to stupidnější je za to ještě platit (Twitter Blue). Mastodon není bezchybnej, to koneckonců na začátku nebyl ani Twitter (já tam měl účet od 2009, takže o tom něco vím), ale vaše data jsou vaše.

I've been getting notifications about this conversation since it started and I have no idea why.

Several people are talking about me, but seemingly nobody knows I can see this. I replied to somebody who was outlining why they don't watch my videos anymore (which - fine, but I felt they misunderstood my intention and wanted to clarify) and that caught them off guard.

A day in the life of the new CSO, today the CEO with the board approval have unlocked a VERY big budget for me increasing the security of the company.

How did i done it ?

Have OSINT every one of them, i've gone trough the reunion room, and ... listed all of their / partner pwned account, username, password, SSN (social security number for non us people), the code for their office, and even the pin of his credit card for one of them.

After that explained how many money i needed to fix the company and provide, security assistance to all people who work in the company.

They had a big smile when i arrived, they where shocked when i leaved.

Adding an easy way to create a Mastodon account on mastodon.social to the official app? Yes, please.

I don’t understand the drama around this. Not like it’s removing other instances, or the ability to switch instances afterwards. It just gives an easier way in for people who don’t understand the instances concept.

It’s a good thing. Anything that helps onboarding is a good thing, and no, it doesn’t mean the developer has gone evil or wants to centralize things. 🙄🙄

@thelinuxEXP The problem with migrating to another instance is that it only moves your followers, not your content. So choosing the right instance at the start saves you from this pain.
