@RickiTarr I'm allergic to award-chasing ARTARTART films, so the one that came to mind first is Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. It's got many flaws (and of course it chased all the awards), but it captures the earnest romantic tension with self-imposed ideas of honor and duty so well. Michelle Yeoh carries so much in her expressions without coming anywhere near cloying. Zhang Ziyi is so brilliant as the frustrated id of the entire martial arts genre.

And? It's just so gorgeous.
