What should an Admin, or if you're an Admin, what do you do, about someone's post that contains unnecessary extreme profanities attacking a well-known person?

I don't envy your position!

As a user, I can easily mute another user (and did so for exactly the reasons you mentioned in your survey). But I would worry that really intense behavior of that nature could damage the reputation of the server. Also, a person could express the same views without going totally overboard, so to take action isn't necessarily censorship in the worst sense of the word.

I have it working here now, too. Originally I copied the URL from my browser into the post and it didn't work. I edited it to instead use the URL the browser gives me when I opt to share the link. Not sure if that's what made the difference.

'The Undertones' is the eponymous debut album by the Irish punk rock band The Undertones, released on this day in 1979.

The October 1979 re-released (Pic 2) included The Undertones' first two singles: "Teenage Kicks" and "Get Over You"

The odd thing is, as I get older, the things I like and have sentimental value don’t have an all-encompassing touchstone.

Let me give you an example. Almost everyone has heard Nirvana, played Super Mario Bros., and watched The Matrix.

But at some point I diverged from the mainstream. My Nirvana is The Rapture. My Super Mario Bros. is Septerra Core. My Matrix is Turbo Kid.

It is so rare to encounter another human who has heard of these things. And the thing is, I didn’t set out to be niche. It just happened.

I suspect I’m not alone in this phenomena. It’s entirely possible that most of us carry memories of art that mean so much to us but not to many others. And I suspect this is occurring with increasing frequency.

In the era of Nirvana, SNES, and (to a lesser extent) The Matrix, we didn't have the internet to show us everything in the world. We were limited to what the mainstream offered or what people brought in from somewhere else. (I gobbled up those alien scraps wherever I could find them!)

But I hear you. Almost none of my interests are shared by people I know.

No Control was the first one I bought, probably 3-4 years after it came out. For the next few years I was totally crazy for Bad Religion. But, as is often the case, I lost interest when they signed to a major and adopted that style of production.

As to favourites... when I was last into B.R., Suffer would have taken that title.

I think that he would think that to consider yourself to "be" any one of these labels would be to sell yourself short, spiritually. Especially if it caused you to pit yourself against your fellow man based on his/her label.

Just listened to some of Black Dots. It's pretty good but I'm sticking with my original vote. The ROIR sessions, in my opinion, is one of the best musical recordings of all time. It also has one of my favourite lines:

Not everyone's a lie"
