Anniversary blog post from May 28, 2010: We do not make just one mode choice. We make mode choices repeatedly, of at least three kinds: Single Trips, Habits and Investments. We're not going to get people out of cars by addressing only one kind of choice.
What are your thoughts on self-diagnosis being belittled by many in the autistic community?
For clarity, I’m not asking to start a debate, just a genuine discussion. I currently don’t have the option to get a diagnosis, but feel fairly confident that the research I’ve done over the past year and a half has been legitimate and credible.
I don’t feel comfortable saying that I am definitively autistic, but I am ok with saying I’m “self-suspecting.” #actuallyautistic@actuallyautistic
you do not have to resort to antisemitic conspiracy theories about 10/7 being an inside job or a false flag or some shit.
it's quite damning enough that the Israeli government utterly failed to foresee that attack and protect those people, and then decided to prioritize killing as many people as possible over ever recovering the hostages, even against much of the world's condemnations
there's more than enough solid fact to denounce Israel and Netanyahu over without needing to venture into sketchy territory
I started a new Youtube channel a few months back to kind of help me come to terms with my late autism diagnosis, and I seem to be doing better on views than my (8 years old) Clay Disarray channel :ablobdizzy:
Anyhoo, thought I'd post a link here if you're interested 🧡
Worth emphasizing this, because most news outlets did not:
“Rep. Matt #Gaetz (R-Fla.) on Thursday ominously invoked Donald #Trump’s call to far-right violent extremists while joining the former president at his criminal trial in New York.
“Standing back and standing by, Mr. President,” Gaetz wrote on social media, along with a photo of himself positioned behind Trump at his trial.”
@StillIRise1963@Jackiemauro@KatM I actually prefer to sit down when I pee because it’s far more comfortable and you actually get more of the pee out because your muscles are relaxed. 😎
BREAKING: #Arkansas Supreme Court reinstates four voter suppression laws ahead of the 2024 elections, reversing a lower court's ruling that the laws violated the state constitution.
“It’s absurd for ODOT to claim that their proposed $1.9 billion 10-lane highway is in compliance with the city’s existing plans for #climateAction, sustainable #transportation investment or neighborhood development. We filed this lawsuit because state law requires ODOT to follow the city’s #cleanAir and climate goals. ODOT shouldn’t be allowed to advance a project that brazenly violates the city’s adopted plans.” -- #NoMoreFreeways#ODOTGTFOpdx#Portland
My morning radio feed has a new fill-in traffic reporter with that current language trend of not pronouncing terminating Ts and it's distracting. I wonder where it came from and why it's so rampant recently?
"There's an acciden aa the stree where ih crosses the river in the wess end."
Funny how speech trends come and go, and sometimes stay. I suspect Tiktok is amplifying it. Modern accents are becoming disconnected from geography and more about subculture/demographics.
Apple's says its environmentally friendly, and at the same time destroys perfectly usable devices to raise demand for new ones. And sues a company that sold those usable devices instead of shredding them. Good job Apple. https://9to5mac.com/2024/04/18/100000-iphones-stolen-instead-of-scrapped/
@stfn definitely not a good look for the supposedly sustainability minded policies of this company. My question is what happens to the materials after the shredding?
Is there any #sociologist around who can have a look at the account that passes around massive amounts of 'short primers' on 'easy sociology' to the @academicchatter group? Is it just AI-generated garbage or is it actually something useful?
