I reckon Copilot+ PC is going to be a product that an entire class of professional just simply can't purchase or use for work. Thinking of #attorneys, #accountants, etc.

Surely the "features" will be able to be disabled, but can anyone reasonably trust that?

One thing we don’t talk about a lot is how dangerous flying may become because of climate change. Or how flying might be limited to certain hours of the day in many parts of the world because of extreme heat (which is already happening in some locations).

Yesterday morning, on the first day of #LegalUp, I gave my latest MCLE presentation "Discovering How to Get the Most Out of the Most Hated Part of Litigation: Discovery 101”. There were over 200 attendees and judging, at least by the chat, I managed to make a usually very boring topic kind of fun and interesting.

I'm talking to a journalist in a bit about NASA's new "space sustainability strategy" and this one sentence from the abstract seems to sum it up:

"Given the substantial upfront expenditures required to develop and deploy remediation capabilities and the potential delay in receiving benefits, these motivations do not appear to be sufficient to incentivize immediate action"

I'm going to have to read this more carefully, but did NASA just say they don't care about orbit?!

Last week we learned that part of a cargo pallet of depleted batteries that was jettisoned from the ISS in 2021 not only did not fully burn up on reentry, but also crashed through the roof and two stories of a private civilian’s home in Florida. I was able to attend part of an AWI webinar today re “Are We Effective Human Lie Detectors?” and the answer is no. Even so called experts (police officers, detectives, psychologists, lawyers, etc.) have only a 50/50 chance of correctly determining if someone is lying or not. And some people are better liars and appear more credible than nervous truth tellers. A good reminder why outside corroboration or contemporaneous documentation is so important in all investigations.

If you ever want to feel like a real slacker, go read the bio of any astronaut. They are incredibly talented, highly educated, super-people.

I'm listening in to a talk by a current astronaut, and it somehow makes me feel really great that despite him basically having superpowers, he still had a hiccup with his Zoom presentation and had to change some settings mid-presentation.

Conference season is almost upon us and I just got an email from CAHR 2024 asking if I wanted to be an exhibitor again. I’ve got some other things on deck this year and can’t make it, but in looking over the photo they sent showing last year’s packed Exhibition Hall I noticed that if you zoom in you can actually see the #AlysonClaireLaw booth and me talking to an attendee! (Yes, I’m wearing a mask because I still mask up at large indoor events.) Kinda cool huh?
