Anybody here with experience on the sounds a nestling or fledgling Anna's hummingbird makes? I am hearing a strange "peeping" that I've never heard before and an adult is seemingly responding. I posted last week about encountering what I thought was a juvenile, so there could be a second one too. I could not locate where the sound was coming from to get a visual on the "peeping" today.

    @Binder I love Ellenos! My favorite is the lemon curd one, I often use it in a lemon yogurt cake recipe (that I also love).

    Took this one the other day, and actually the gentians (there are two of the same plant) are about to explode any day now, so I'll have some pictures soon of plants absolutely covered in these one-inch+ across blue blooms.

    💜 🌷 🔵 🍃 Brunnera and pulmonaria with fresh mulch (and magnolia petals).

    Pulmonaria with much fresh foliage and many branches of bloom clusters in pink-to-purple-to-blue.
    Brunnera full of long reaching bloom stalks with many small blue flowers and much fresh green foliage at the base.

    'Marilee' crabapple tree a couple days ago in the back corner of my yard.

    I first saw this tree as a street tree a few blocks away at the site of a new build in my neighborhood several years ago. After looking it up I discovered that it is a narrow upright crabapple and had to have it for this back corner. It's doing exactly what I wanted it to do.

    How it started: I wanted to render a checkmark beside bird names as as their links were visited.

    How it's going: I'm deep in a CSS rabbit hole of state and pseudo-element interactions. Some properties update with :visited while most do not.

    Overall on my bird website, I've been trying to use pseudo-elements for decoration, but in this case, I think I'll have to add a real element if I want the checkmarks.

    The two earliest blooming rhododendrons in my mom’s garden, both tower over me. She planted both of them many years ago, as well as every other one in this giant garden.

    At one point I thought about how I need to get some recording implements to capture the cacophony of bird sounds coming from the two trees over my garage and my neighbors. I was still enough at one point they nearly weren't bothered by me and came down to the water basin, but there was no way I could move and get pics 😭

    It was a bright sunny day and I may have taken too many pictures of spring crocus, but I have zero clue how they turned out because I couldn't see a thing on the screen in the sun. About to offload onto my iPad, crossing fingers some of them are worthwhile. If so, of course, I'll share!
