A bit of practice. Trying to riff on Nate Smith's Retold. It's in 9/8 and I can't quite get there. There was 18 minutes of osmose noodling, but I took that out.

Me and #RubiaTheCat spent most of this fine #Caturday figuring out how to make an instrument for @dhilowitz's excellent #DecentSampler plugin.

For a first attempt we sampled the #vibraphone patch on my 40-year-old #Casio Casiotone MT-70 synth.

It'd be lovely if someone who uses DecentSampler could give it a test run and send feedback my way!

After that several people made music and used the genre #BonkWave, or #NotBonkWave.

So much so that eventually they made a compilation, and then another, because other people made more.

That's all there is to it. Not quite sure what makes it unwelcoming, as absolutely anything can be called BonkWave (or not).

If it really does upset you I would genuinely love to find out why...

I see and admit the website doesn´t currently offer much of a serious explanation what Bonk Wave is, but that´s partly because no one knows, including the people running the website.

All I can say is that it very much isn´t an established club - people I´ve never encountered before make or talk about Bonkwave, create and come and go.

https://bonkwave.org/ and its forum is just as it says, an invitation for anyone Bonk curious to hang out and make or listen to music. 1/2

@scy We might well add more explanatory content to the page, especially as the last thing we want is alienate people, but the page has been online for less than two days (and the landing page was made that day), so there's only so much we can do in our spare time.

Other than that I can just reiterate you, as well as anyone else is very welcome to join the forum. What exact community to expect is anyone's guess, as it's whatever we eventually make out of it... 2/2

Yay, I'm glad to hear!

It has actually sparked a discussion on how to make the homepage more welcoming and inclusive without losing its playfulness.

My personal preference would probably something like a more conventional about page for the "serious" explanation with a suitably worded "call to action" button on the landing page pointing towards it.

It'd be great to get your and others' input there as well (if you fancy)!
