I hate questions in surveys that ask about brand loyalty or trust. no, I don't fucking trust a brand or company. Wendy's is not my fucking bro. who the hell has a hard-on for their power company? no, I don't have a positive attitude towards the capitalist fuckers who take all my money. I'm complicit in the system but I'm not fuckin' HAPPY about it

brianvastag,

@senanthic A PR firm once brought me into a conference room and asked me why people don't like or trust Pharma.

I was like, "Oh, we only have an hour?"

Started the day with a giant cockroach, 17 times the size of the cat, in my bathroom.

It’s now dead. I’m considering firebombing the apartment to get rid of the body.

(May not be handling this with the coolest of demeanours.)

@elizabethtasker You definitely wouldn't like Hawaii. Learning to live with B52-sized roaches is part of the charm of the place.

Ukraine should supersede Israel. If the state department can provide emergency munitions for Israel, then it can for Ukraine. Most Americans are far more inclined to help Ukraine over Israel: US State Department to bypass congressional review period to thousands of munitions to Israel: https://www.cnn.com/2023/12/08/politics/state-department-congress-tank-munitions-sale/index.html

@KimPerales "Most Americans are far more inclined to help Ukraine over Israel" - where are you getting that from?

brianvastag,
@brianvastag@sciencemastodon.com avatar

@KimPerales That's fair though it's bizarre to me that so many people think Biden can end the war in Gaza by blinking his eyes or snapping his fingers or something.

brianvastag,
@brianvastag@sciencemastodon.com avatar

@cakeisnotalie @KimPerales You're asking for the US to abandon 70 years of foreign policy, ending an alliance with our only ally in the region, and letting fundamentalist Islamists like Hamas & Iran run the region with their goal of murdering all the Jews.

Seems important.

So, I've had this air purifier in my bedroom for a while now. It broke, and now the SILENCE at night is like a drill bit skewering my brain. Does anyone else require white noise to sleep?

brianvastag,
@brianvastag@sciencemastodon.com avatar

@orci So in college I lived in a house with busy railroad tracks in the backyard.

One night I woke up for no apparent reason. It was so quiet.

Next day I read a railroad strike had started. I woke up because my brain missed having enormous clickety-clackety coal trains rolling past my window.

@virtualbri@mastodon.online avatar

Remember the reduction of shows and movies were going to happen anyway, since studios were spending like drunken sailors on projects they mismanaged long before these strikes.

People blaming this on new WGA or SAG rates should be given the side-eye. Many will use this as an excuse, just like the companies that raised prices during the pandemic because they could, not needed to.

It'll look spectacular coming down. Best viewing will be Kalalau Valley lookout at the top of Waimea Canyon.
