LOL

The thermoplastic installers got it right, these are supposed to look like Yield signs.

Not that any drivers know what they mean. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

“The team discovered that a single chip responsible for storing a portion of the FDS memory — including some of the FDS computer’s software code — isn’t working. The loss of that code rendered the science and engineering data unusable. Unable to repair the chip, the team decided to place the affected code elsewhere in the FDS memory. But no single location is large enough to hold the section of code in its entirety” https://blogs.nasa.gov/voyager/2024/04/22/nasas-voyager-1-resumes-sending-engineering-updates-to-earth/

They're making announcements at Jack London Amtrak station that there's a system wide delay (I don't think 🤞 my train is affected) that because of a stuck drawbridge, wondering where that would be. also this is the closest I've ever been to missing a train (other than the time we missed our stop and were carry-bys).

this image generation party trick is going to destroy the planet

“For context, the most carbon-intensive image generation model (stable-diffusion-x1-base-1.0) generates 1,594 grams of COz for 1,000 inferences, which is roughly the equivalent to 4.1 miles driven by an average gasoline-powered passenger vehicle”

The dominant structural properties among the founder languages are still reflected in the modern linguistic populations” https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ajpa.24923
