Another big accident on San Jose Ave (at Duncan). A car hit the lightpost in the center of the road so hard that the lights fell off the top. I’m just trying to get some groceries without getting crushed at a crosswalk. It’s wild out here.

@docpop @exkclamation and it’s that fast with just four, crazy to think it used to be 6 lanes until 2005 (can’t remember if you were here back then)

NOUS RÉPÈTONS: BONHOMME EST TOMBÉ

“Unseasonably mild weather has forced the Carnaval de Québec to close one of its signature venues on the last day of the event.

Officials say they closed Bonhomme’s Palace on the advice of experts due to above-freezing temperatures in Quebec City”

So far this week: I rant about contractors: FLASH FLOOD WARNING! I rant more about contractors: EARTHQUAKE!

Maybe need to chill on the rants. Disasters should NOT reflect my mood. 🤪

The golden rule ever since people started talking online is that everyone is always talking to, and about, themselves.

I wrote about this (omg) nearly 20 years ago and it’s still just as true today. Maybe more.

“Taraval is one of those Parkside streets that runs right to the beach so you can look right down the street into the Pacific Ocean. The end of the continent. It always reminds me of the George Sterling poem: ‘At the end of our streets is sunset: at the end of our streets the stars.” https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/nativeson/article/san-francisco-favorite-sites-18628663.php

@rollovereasy Blue Heron Lake is fine but we missed a big cost-saving opportunity if we’d renamed “Stow Lake” to “Slow Lake” — we would have just needed an exacto knife to scrape off the sides of the “t”(and also confused drivers angry at slow streets)

In February 2023, I helped @mwichary run what became the #1 tech book campaign on Kickstarter for his massive tome, Shift Happens. How did we raise over $750,000 in the campaign (and sell more copies later)? How did we deal with the expected—and surprise problems? I've detailed all that in this essay: https://glennf.medium.com/how-we-crowdfunded-750-000-for-a-giant-book-about-keyboard-history-c30e24c4022e Hard-won advice from this weathered campaign veteran.
