There's this idea that has stuck with me since the early days working with John Resig on the jQuery team, when he shared that the end goal of the library should be to make itself unnecessary (in jQuery's case by influencing practices and standards). Some polyfills took that idea further by using feature checks to silently exit once their API gained native browser support. Today's popular frameworks address different problems, but it feels like a similar moment for thoughtful planning nonetheless

@scottjehl I'd argue that most modern frameworks don't take that message to heart, though. I can count on one hand the number of libraries that plan to obsolete themselves.

Disappointment from authority figures. Comments from peers. Internalized feelings of failure. Finding your place of belonging and that thing you're good at. Meeting people who "get" you and accept you as you are.

I also think your tone is REALLY bad here, considering what a positive force Zach is in the web community. You're not talking to someone who dismisses or ignores users. Zach deserves more respect than that.

@uncenter @zachleat @eleventy I think telling someone who's talking about focusing full time on a vibrant project that it's "stagnated" set the tone off wrong from the start.

"Have you considered bringing on more full time folks so you can grow faster and address your backlog more easily?" is essentially asking the same thing without "negging" Zach or the project.
