Giving pano (clipboard manager for ) a 2nd chance. It might be an over-kill, but I like it for now. On Gnome 33 it "reliably" blocked the desktop on copy... but hopefully problems have been sorted out.

i always put atheros cards in my Thinkpads from that era, takes the intel firmware out of the equation & you can then run on it ;)

i've got JWM running as DE on top of & i do my & dabbling on in a miserly 2GB of RAM lol

Confession: I have been on that Other Site for the last few hours talking about Tucker Carlson and Don Lemon because ... well, this is a good example of why I do miss search here. I want to see what people are saying; I want to know the latest reporting; and, yes, I want to quote-tweet NYTimes Pitchbot. Now it's OK if the community of Mastodon decides it doesn't want to be a key place for news but I'd regret that. And I'm not speaking so much as a journalist but as news user.

Will this be Mastodon's VHS or Betamax moment?

I haven't tested Bluesky but I can say that if Mastodon wants to stay competitive (and I hope it does), it needs to address SEARCH & SURFACING fast.

The first open-protocol network that enables news and fast breaking events to surface easily and with functional search will win the market. You'll see journos, sports, etc. migrate to the platform that gives them that visibility.

There is a window of opportunity here but it doesn't stay open long.

UTF-8 coding system is in use... but when in a shell buffer, i don't know why. What am i missing ? I've tried to run 'set-terminal-coding-system 'utf-8-unix ', but no joy ... (it keeps, weirdly enough, using ISO-LATIN-1 instead of) what am i missing ? thanks, thanks, thanks
