I'm tired of people using the term "podcast" when I can't find it at the place where I get my podcasts.

@davew I think it is not only the problem, to find the podcast on the main directories, but that a lot of podcast are published using services, so that it is sometimes not even possible to simply follow their local sites RSS feed :(

I am currently trying to make Podcasts also a first class citizen of the Fediverse but it is not as easy as I thought. It seems that quite some sites do not even use local podcasting plugins any more, looking at the number of downloads.

    @dansup I wouldn't say "harder than you" but the ones on your list that I know are doing a really fantastic job!!!!

    👏 👏 👏 👏

    @dansup that’s simply a plugin! How many sites/projects do you maintain?

    😘

    I wasn’t aiming for that too, but thanks ☺️

    Does the WordPress ActivityPub plugin allow for following others and seeing their messages too? Or is it just broadcast and being followed? Iow could you run WP as an AP instance? Would that result in as bloated databases as Masto instances create?

    pfefferle,
    @pfefferle@mastodon.social avatar

    @ton it does only broadcast (for now)!

    pfefferle,
    @pfefferle@mastodon.social avatar
    pfefferle,
    @pfefferle@mastodon.social avatar

    @ton you can use a custom post type! Then you can enable only that and disable all other types like posts/pages/media… does that help?

    I just attended the "ActivityPub Based Forums and Threaded Discussions" call, and I really like their work on standardising the way, how forums federate.

    https://github.com/swicg/forums

    Maybe we need something similar for blogging platforms.... /cc @help @write_as ghost

    But I think I'll lurk around the community for now.... it's technically very similar... you have a post and reactions...

    Can someone help with ? Maybe @pfefferle ?

    I would like to filter out all the empty 'bridgy response' comments. It is webmention comments of the 'like' and repost' type, which are displayed seperately.

    Here is my blog:

    @pfefferle@mastodon.social avatar

    @LarsHenriksen @snarfed.org@snarfed.org have you connected brid.gy with Mastodon and/or do you use fed.brid.gy?

    pfefferle,
    @pfefferle@mastodon.social avatar

    @LarsHenriksen Can you share the brid.gy link of one of these comments? You should be able to find that URL on the edit page of such a comment.

    @snarfed.org@snarfed.org

    pfefferle,
    @pfefferle@mastodon.social avatar

    @LarsHenriksen @snarfed.org@snarfed.org I think these are follow/unfollow/… requests. If you provide me a brid.gy link from your WordPress Comment Edit Screen I can have a look!

    pfefferle,
    @pfefferle@mastodon.social avatar

    @LarsHenriksen @snarfed.org@snarfed.org that seems to be a like! Is this one of the broken ones?

    pfefferle,
    @pfefferle@mastodon.social avatar

    @LarsHenriksen @snarfed.org@snarfed.org do you use a „full site editing“ theme?

    pfefferle,
    @pfefferle@mastodon.social avatar

    @LarsHenriksen @snarfed.org@snarfed.org this is a problem of Webmentions, not ActivityPub.

    But I do not recommend a different theme, it was just to understand the issue better. I prepared a fix for the issue and am waiting for a review to merge it: https://github.com/pfefferle/wordpress-webmention/pull/468

    Ich hätte da mal eine Frage: Wenn ich das Activity-Plugin auf meinem Wordpress-Blog aktiviere, wird dann eine neuer Mastodon-Account erzeugt oder kann ich das mit dem hier bestehenden Account @joerghafer verknüpfen? Danke für Infos!

    @joerghafer @davidlohner @Krisuuu @nele @timovt was meinst du mit "virtueller Mastodon-Account"???

    pfefferle,
    @pfefferle@mastodon.social avatar

    @joerghafer @davidlohner @Krisuuu @nele @timovt Naja, es ist ein fediverse konto, so wie es auch andere, nicht mastodon konten gibt, wie z.b. pixelfed, pleroma, lemmy, ...

    es ist also ein WordPress account dem man auf Mastodon folgen kann, aber auch überall anders :)

    Macht das sinn?

    pfefferle,
    @pfefferle@mastodon.social avatar

    @joerghafer @davidlohner @Krisuuu @nele @timovt was ich gerne mache, ist das boosten meiner WordPress Artikel. So kann ich die ganze Reichweite meines Mastodon Accounts nutzen und die Kommentare landen trotzdem im Blog!

    pfefferle,
    @pfefferle@mastodon.social avatar

    @davidlohner @joerghafer @Krisuuu @nele @timovt Ich will nicht ausschließen dass WordPress irgendwann auch alle features von mastodon hat, man darf aber nicht vergessen, dass das eine menge traffic mit sich bringt und shared hosting meistens nicht darauf ausgelegt ist.

    starrwulfe, to fediverse

    ActivityPub for WordPress was updated today adding Bidirectional Comment Federation.

    Means I can type in the comments to replies and they should federate back over to the original thread. Before, WordPress really couldn’t act as a discussion federator; I made it easy on myself by just federating my comment URLs via webmention to wherever they needed to go manually (copy comment, paste into other website text box, submit.) Or at the very best, use my Mastodon or MicroBlog account to respond. Hopefully this makes replying back to others easier now; although I still don’t know about Webmention support or how it works in syndication…

    I guess let’s find out? 🙈

    @starrwulfe @starrwulfe this is not a bug (works perfect on my site since month), but seems to be a problem with caching. We are already checking how to work around that properly.
