Have been known to meticulously edit photos to create something fantastical, but quite often just scribble on things.

Apropos of nothing, if you need something lovely & funny to listen to for 44 minutes, and have access to BBC Sounds, I can heartily recommend the 2024 special of John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme. A gentle tale of village life. Superb stuff.

Finally got round to downloading my archive from Insta & deleting everything from my account. I don't use it, no point leaving them with all my photos.

I need to upload them to my website, & reckon I've a fair few silent Sunday pics from it, but here's one in the meantime.

I'd forgotten all about this & I just love it. I mean, how could you not love someone playing the bagpipes for an oversized rubber duck?

I am honestly stuck with what to do about Instagram.

Meta are AI scraping and saying all publicly posted photography is fair game. I use IG to keep up with photobook publishers and photography galleries. Although I do post some of my work, I don't post my so called 'a-grade' work because I have invested so much money and time into it. They are all kept for exhibitions and, hopefully, fine art photographic monographs.

So..... this AI shit is really, really doing my head in. Think I'm gonna have to make the decision to quit Instagram at some point.

@ItsThatDeafGuy Argh, this reminded me that clearing out my Insta is in my to do list, and as I had 10 mins free thought "I'll quickly go and grab an archive of my images and just do it" but you can't just grab an archive?

I've never been a big user of it but some are fairly old and I just wanted to make sure I didn't lose anything, but apparently it's much more difficult for me to get the high res versions onto my PC than for Meta AI to grab them.

@ItsThatDeafGuy I've just found a buried option to download everything (although had to change it to high res images, as it assumes you don't want that 🙄 ) so I'm waiting for an email to tell me it's ready.

They really are a nightmare to deal with. I did similar to you with Facebook, went through and deleted everything manually just left an empty account, going to do the same with Insta, maybe just put a single image saying "go to my website".

@priscillaharing The National Museum of Scotland is ace, if only to go to the roof terrace to admire the view around the city’s rooftops (although other bits are good too!)

@Tattie @priscillaharing It is a great place (and do frequently get myself lost - I find it a difficult building to navigate, but in a good way!)

And yeah, I'm a particular fan of the Museum of Childhood (the old dolls are a VIBE) & Camera Obscura too (I have a weakness for both novelty lighting and visual illusions in general, so it totally keys in to that)
