If you want to make me mad, I won’t block you forever unless you really step over my boundaries, but I will let you know you’re making me mad, and some people are definitely making me mad
@evilcookies98@InsaneAtheist@gocu54 you can't even use bootcamp anymore, your mac is more than 10 years old if your still using Lepard or the one after that to do your work, your experiences are outdated for sure.
@gocu54@InsaneAtheist@LeonianUniverse and there’s another problem I have. They don’t want to be compatible with anything. They haven’t since 1976, and I’m saying this from Research. I had to run the old one because the modern one I had fell apart because of their poor manufacturing choices. now, I don’t have to worry about it anymore thank goodness. I got a better computer for less than a fourth of that price. Not that I’m the one who paid for it. It was a gift, but the fact that it runs better than any apple product I’ve owned speaks volumes.
I normally don’t share anyone else’s info, but if Jamie Russell-White contacts you looking for me, kindly tell him to f*** off. The nut job has been stalking me since 2020
This inability to read bookshare books on my Android is driving me insane. I just want to move all my books and everything else that I'm currently reading or listening to and have it all on one platform, and I can't do that right now.
@lynnskyi when I called to report an accessibility problem they basically told me they weren’t going to open a ticket because I didn’t have the newest hardware. That’s not acceptable.
@GamingWithEars@evilcookies98@devinprater I think, in general, accessibility and good customer service are becoming less of a concern to developers and businesses alike. Of course this is sad. I don't base my choice of platform on customer service or developer response. If I did, I'd always be upset. There is still great customer service out there, just less of it than there used to be, IMHO!
@evilcookies98@puppygirlhornypost FIDO2 and passkey support is the main other thing that's strangely a proprietary, closed source part of Play services. It all works via sandboxed Google Play, etc. and there's nothing stopping there being other implementations but it's still annoying they would put such a useful security feature into Play services instead of an AOSP mainline module. Their justification is they did it to backport it to ancient Android versions, but they could have done both.
I want to get to know all of you a little bit better, so I’m going to start asking some questions. What book or series really got your love of reading started?
@MichiganPal@lulu_bear I gave away all of the Braille books I had to help some kids in the school system. Those books are expensive in the school didn't want to buy them
Let me make one thing Crystal clear. I do not object to paying for things so long as the cost is reasonable. One dollar for a candy bar, fine. $25 for an entire box of candy bars, fine. 3500+ dollars for a headset that barely does anything, not fine. $60 a year to open an app and read a book, also not fine.
@evilcookies98 True, but if it's worth it to me to avoid that inconvenience then I might be willing to shell out $60 a year.
BTW, I am planning to check out Book Player and Speech Central to see if they'll fit my needs. I'm not planning to subscribe to Voice Dream since my use case for it doesn't justify me spending that much money and with some minor inconveniences, I can find an app for less that meets my needs. I can see where others in different situations though would be OK with shelling out that much money.
OK guys, question. I’ve been external drive shopping today. I found a one terabyte spinning drive for around 70 bucks. The same capacity of SSD is over 120. However, I found a flash drive with the exact same capacity for 40 bucks. I need to know which of these is going to run faster, because I will be storing most of my stuff on it from now on
@evilcookies98@carrottop1023@celrock yes it can, that's what I do. My main pc harddrive is only a 256 gig drive. If you use an external though, make sure ou fix the power settings on that drive to never turn off, otherwise you'll have weird pauses sometimes when you play music from the drive.
@evilcookies98@pixelate You should put a ticket in for promoting this on the #OurBlind discord, definitely a lot of android people there that may be interested.
@cub80_appleby@celrock oh, so that neat little trick does still work. My method of using it as a media player was to add one track, hit the insert random top up track key about 60 times, and then just mash the play key and see what kind of crazy mess I ended up with. my search folder and top up folder are the same thing
@evilcookies98@cub80_appleby I’ve been known to do that, when I couldn’t think of what to play. I also have it set up, so the folder I search for both, adding tracks manually, and putting in random top up tracks, is also the same. F:\Audio on the desktop, and D:\Celeste on the laptop.
@evilcookies98@johnl1129 Oof, well, could've been fixed, Apple would've probably fixed it. I have to bring in an iPod and an iPhone seven to see what they'll say about them.
@spacedragon@johnl1129 I tried getting help online etc, snapping pictures and such, and everyone basically said the thing was dead. Someone actually called it a bunch of multicolored bands of f**ked up
@TSchulte@ChrisDuffley also known as find a couple of extra admins who actually know how not to blow up the server. Actually having a couple of extras wouldn’t hurt because I won’t be around 24 seven 365, especially when I’m out of town this fall.
@Cass if you disable the skill, it will wipe everything out too. As for your other question, you can name it whatever the heck you want. It doesn’t even have to be an actual human name. I saw somebody named puffy shirt.
I just found out that Samsung has a physical fuse in their devices that will blow to prevent operating system rollbacks. That sounds like a very good way to blow out a totally functional piece of hardware because of one software glitch. Seems like a design flaw to me. I like Samsung software to an extent, but I will call out apparent design flaws, where I see them
I wish code factory actually gave half a crap. The new Voice I bought a few days ago with the remainder of my Google play balance is awesome, but it cannot pronounce Alex Trebek’s last name, which is one of my sacred words. If a voice cannot pronounce that it irritates the life out of me.
@jamminjerry@ratking very true. Then again, if people want to get into my room, they’ll have to figure out the way to unlock my chain. I had to put a chain on the door because the dogs figured out how to knock it open and barge in. They’re not allowed in here because I have a lot of important stuff and they like to use the toilet all over everything. They’ve been trained not to, but they think it’s funny.
