Oh, he did not enjoy that. The floret has been dropped and the little hands are clenched under the chin and his expression shows he’s experiencing something unpleasant or at least unfamiliar and not too yummy
A second later he is standing at attention in the basket scanning for more palatable food sources
Now the baby has hopped out of the basket and standing in front of a piece of crockery. He went in search of nuts but these are all empty, he’s tossing an empty shell aside. Awwww.

I found a tiny wicker chest while cleaning. Squirrel sized. So of course I filled it with nuts and set it out. Little Bronson could not figure out how a lid works. I think he might be a little slow, sometimes I see him licking sticks and trying to eat tree pieces. In a surprise upset it was the baby ground squirrels who hopped up and demonstrated how to open a lid 🤗

Now Bronson is like Spider-Man spread eagle on the fence trying to chew a hole in the corner, which kind of worked, he got some walnut crumbs this way

Two Inca Doves (on the left) and a Ruddy Ground Dove (on the right) share some limb space at the Paton Center near Patagonia, AZ. Moments after this was taken, the Ruddy attacked the Inca Doves. Mean! Then the Ruddy sat on the limb with Inca Dove feathers in its bill.

Monk Parakeets occasionally escape from captivity and eventually start breeding activity when biology so instructs. In some places, escaped Monk Parakeets have found other escaped Monk Parakeets and have established stable local populations.

One such escapee has built a nest nearby (eastern NC), and it's been fun to watch it fly around and call and diligently work on its nest. Only one bird is present so all this work is certainly for naught.

I had a hilarious nonverbal conversation with this robin at the parklet near the lake yesterday morning. If I were better at photo editing, I'd insert some sort of thought bubble for em on the right-hand side of this photo to capture eir purse-lipped, cranky-chicken spirit.
