WEEK 33: To commemorate Nakba Day, the water of fountains in Chamberlain Square and Victoria Square in Birmingham has been dyed red by activists from Palestine Action.
They're not going to try and stop the genocide.
They're not putting any boots on the ground.
But they still want to be in charge of everything. As usual.
โArab states have said it should be US-led so the US is trying to work out how it can lead it without having boots on the ground ... "
FT: "US encouraging Arab states to join multinational postwar force in Gaza"
@Thebratdragon A target which ZOF won't hesitate to aim at so they can blame it on Hamas.
They're making a right mess of that "floating pier" thing too.
@MadeyeTheCarnaptious Verso did a giveaway of a load of books about Palestine a few weeks ago, did you know?
I've got the ones by Ilhan Pappe and Rashid Khalidi but inevitably they're still on the tottering TBR ๐
You can get the free ebooks here:
@Greenseer She hasn't tweeted either, so it might be gardening leave, although NDA would be my first guess too.
Sky never explained why they sacked their presenter who actually questioned the Israeli guest, either, and she's not been seen since January.
Look at these giggling old men. This is what they're saying to the interviewer (see video link, sorry it's Xitter) about their actions in 1948.
Left:
"I didn't talk to anyone about it."
"What about your wife? I assume you lived with her for many years. You never talked to her about it?"
"I never told her. What would I tell her - that I'm a murderer?"
Right:
"And some guys took flamethrowers and ran after people and incinerated them."
@msquebanh Thanks for prompting me to look it up! I've found a few places to watch it and added links to the OP. It feels more urgent than ever to watch it, and things like it, especially today.
@msquebanh Yes, I used to pay a lot more attention to documentaries than I do now, although I'm a big fan. I used to get most of my info about the lesser known ones from Kermode, but he's lost my respect recently.
Looks like he's drenched in the blood of the anachronistic Empire his unearned privilege is built on to me, and posing in front of the bonfire his government has made of the country.
meanwhile in there US, Boeing's troubles look to be about to get (even) worse.
After the two 737Max fatal crashes, the US Dept. of Justice agreed not to prosecute if it addressed the issues that had led to the engineering mistakes that causes the crashes... some saw that as letting Boeing off the hook.
Now the DoJ has decided that the agreement is off because Boeing had not honoured the 'deal'; might we now see major prosecution of Boeing?
