I have picked up an injury since yesterdayโ€™s run, although Iโ€™m doing better today already. Itโ€™s in the tendons of my right knee and Iโ€™m also wondering if I did not cause it myself by stretching too hard.

@lrz @s1m0n4 @WTL Apparently, you don't loose any fitness in 3 weeks. So you should be fine!

Hahaha I finally decided on wearing shorts for today's run. Yes, my first time this year. Yes, I did regret it! Winds and rain were brutal!!
And now it snows?!? I can understand why I was cold! ๐Ÿคฃ

But the good news is that my hip pain is already gone!

Precision: the actual location of the pain is hard to describe: it's in the hip region. It would not allow me to sit legs crossed, or mount a bike, but didn't really prevent me from running. Doesn't matter, it's gone!

@WTL @sebastianhahn Hahaha well now I am, but it doesn't count anymore, the temperatures allow for it.

It's a wellness day at work today! ๐ŸŽ‰ I took advantage of it by doing my long run today instead of tomorrow. A nice 32km that brought me in Montreal's Old Port, historic Lachine canal, Mount-Royal and many nice neighborhoods.
This brings me to 97km so far in May, well align to my 215km goal for the SickKids Foundation fundraising.
If you can and wish to contribute, please do so here: https://www.millionreasons.run/s/44070/50014. The funds are given to research children hospitals in Canada. (1/2)

I know some of you have already donated: thank you so much!!
I also completed the morning with amazing sushis!

โœ…๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝ20K Runs

Today was my double run day: morning and afternoon runs. 10K each. Wonderful weather both times.

Tomorrow is โ€œstrength training + hill repeatsโ€ day ๐Ÿค—

@moelholm nice runs!

I nee seeing and hearing about double run days. I'm curious: what is the advantage over doing one 20km run, in your case?

I'm asking from the perspective of: should I implement this in my next training cycle?

Tuesday: 122 seconds of plank, 11 minutes of yoga, 30 minutes of HIIT, 21 minutes of strength, followed by 6.5 km of (7ยฐC with wind gusts to 32km/hr).

The strength training really kicked my butt this morning, probably because @TAV picked it. ๐Ÿคฃ

I was hoping for my stroll pace to get under 9 minutes/km, but not quite. I'll blame the wind. Knee felt okay, will resist running to Monday.

@sebastianhahn @WTL @TAV im still not full time in Team Short... this morning it said 10ยฐ C but I don't believe it.

fo,
@fo@thecanadian.social avatar

@WTL @sebastianhahn @TAV haha no for sure, but truth be told, I feel like I'm colder than in winter. its harder to dress exactly right (you're either cold at the beginning or hot towards the middle and end), whereas in winter, it's hard to dress too hot.

Yesterday, I passed the all-in (since 2016) mark of 50K kilometers run. Thatโ€™s more than Iโ€˜d ever imagined I could run. But here we are, my daily half-marathons are going well, I am feeling great, what more should I ask for in this respect?

@sebastianhahn so impressive!! You're an inspiration!

I'm not yet ready to wake up at the same ungodly hours like you, but maybe some day?

Hahaha that one is easy! Are runners human? Yes, then avoid at all cost.

To be fair, the title is misleading. They also address gels we use on runs, which is a good question.

I love this quote (from the article linked in the previous toot):

No single food determines your health and wellbeing,โ€ Skolnick says. โ€œ[Your] patterns, habits and choices over time are what impact [your] health.โ€

Thursday: 108 seconds of plank, 11 minutes of runner's yoga, 30 minutes of HIIT, 5.7 km of (-2ยฐC with a windchill of -6ยฐC), picked up groceries, walked home, then got on my bike and headed off to a job site to start testing things, then biked home and now I don't want to do anything else.

The first photo - of the sign that says stop for pedestrians - this morning six vehicles ignored the sign that should have let me across the road. <sighs>

1) Sign that says โ€œStop for Pedestriansโ€ by the Minto Bridges with a SUV driving by. 2) Willow tree with the sun behind it on the left, and the Rideau River on the right. 3) The Rideau River, looking along the edge of Strathcona Park, with the Adawe Crossing in the distance. 4) Looking up at a Spruce tree from itโ€™s trunk 5) Looking out of an electrical / telecom bunker

fo,
@fo@thecanadian.social avatar

@WTL it's so annoying when they ignore those signs. Even with yellow painted cross lines and even signs in the middle of the street.

course just published: https://www.racepoint.ca/maps/orw.html?mapid=6

It is really different from previous years, where it would venture into Gatineau (Qc). I heard an interview where an organizer mentioned it was a source of pride: it was the only Canadian marathon to cross provincial borders.

Now it stays in Ottawa and there are 2 180ยฐ turns. I'm not sure I like it. Could be resistance to change, I had already started visualizing the old course...

Yeah no, I don't like 180ยฐ turns.

fo,
@fo@thecanadian.social avatar

@WTL how is it different? The thumbnail from your link looks a lot like what I see... ๐Ÿคจ

fo,
@fo@thecanadian.social avatar

@stephanie @WTL haha thank you for the screenshot! It is not what I'm seeing at all, I see what @WTL sees... yep, as the website was just updated, could very well be a cache issue...

fo,
@fo@thecanadian.social avatar

@WTL @stephanie from the screenshot, the route at the top looks like last year's route. That's why I'm thinking caching issue. But could be proposed route?

fo,
@fo@thecanadian.social avatar

@WTL just got to my post in my timeline (yes I'm way behind) and I just noticed that indeed, the thumbnail of my link is wrong, even for me, but if I click, the map is correct... weird...

fo,
@fo@thecanadian.social avatar

@WTL when I click on the link, yes, and it was the version I intended to share as well. The outlier is the thumbnail where it goes into Gatineau.
