Something I’ve learned, that I feel very strongly about:

All of us grew up believing myths about ourselves. ‘I am not creative,’ or ‘I am like this’. I am a person who doesn’t like cabbage, who loves coffee, I can’t draw to save my life, I can’t cook, I like dessert, or I don’t.

Allowing myself the space to explode some of the myths I’ve believed about myself has been the best thing ever. Who cares if I can’t draw? I’m drawing anyway.

@skinnylatte @miffyhelen Good for you! anyone who tells you they cannot learn to draw doesn’t know what they’re speaking of. I am living proof. Drawing is like any skill you get better at it the more you do. It may be frustrating at first and it may seem impossible at first, but if you stick with it, and have an interest in improving you will. Hopefully at least a half dozen of these budding lemons will hang on and mature into full fruit. The plant is covered in them at the moment but can’t sustain them all so most of them fall off. Fingers crossed a few hang on though! 🍋

It’s been about a month since I brought my lemon tree up from the basement. It’s picked up quite a bit but still is a shadow of its former self. I’m doing the best I can tending to it and today I see new buds forming. Hopefully the plant will pull through. I don’t even care if there aren’t any lemons this year, just want the plant to be healthy again.

Bought this rubber carrot dog chewie for Max and boy he loves it. He usually destroys his dog toys in seconds but he’s been working on this thing for over an hour now and it’s still in one piece.

It’s made of some kind of rubber/silicone material that is fun to chomp (not too hard) and the crinkle leaves are really well bonded to the interior. He hasn’t been able to pull them out (yet). Gonna leave a ★★★★★ for this thing. 👍 https://a.co/d/j7CFSyQ

I couldn’t find my Apple Pencil pro for my new iPad Pro.

Went to find my and nothing there about the Apple Pencil pro.

This morning I found it had fallen off an end table into a dry fountain!

I called Apple support and they were looking into it. When I put the pencil back on the iPad, one of those first time feature pop up screens showed up.

In it was to add Apple Pencil pro to find my. It must have been a fix in iPadOS 17.5.1 that installed last night.

The pop up also had me demo the squeeze tool feature. Do you think will make use of the feature?

@schmubba Hmmm you should be able to tap anywhere outside the selected area with the tip of the pencil to release a transformed selection. Shouldn’t have to tap with your finger. Could you possibly film yourself attempting this so I can see what’s happening? If there a bug there I’d like to find out.

One of the best things I learned from my instructors at RIT a billion lifetimes ago was the concept of signal vs noise in graphic design. It’s a guiding philosophy in my work & I use it almost every day. It’s been especially handy for the pixel portraits for #ProjectTapestry.

Does a placed pixel increase the message/clarity/signal or add distractions/junk/noise to the icon? It’s a constant struggle but once you “get” signal vs noise, designing becomes a whole lot more fun/effective. ✍️
