... surely not Rygar, right? That'd be a deep cut. EDIT: yeah definitely not Rygar, I got the name wrong anyways. Rygar has tight red pants, I was thinking of the uhhhh other weird one, where your guy blew fire. Can't for the life of me remember that one. But he had poofy red pants. So yeah, Shantae, woo!
@8bitacrylic Rygar's a weird one. I feel like you had to be a particular kind of kid getting bargain bin NES games to stumble across it. At least Shantae's had a couple of recent revivals that sorta encourage folks back? Or is Rygar less obscure that I imagine?
Unity has been a big part of my professional life and I still love that company (despite the many mistakes by management) and the people who work there ..
So to see its stock dive below $20 when at some point it was $190 hurts a bit ๐
Oh what could've been ..
@logicalerror yeah, whole thing is a bummer. Mostly I'm trying to focus on it being fun to learn a new engine? Like, Unreal has indeed knocked me out of a creative rut, so that's neat! Also just, yeah. Alas.
@jaco Saw a review that was literally asking, that. Apparently it's this aimless kinda wandering around of boiled down Good Guys vs Bad Guys, seeing as how Senua got her mental health in order in the first one and isn't seeing HELL WORLD anymore.
It's a weird choice! The very first teaser trailer for the sequel had some of the first game's juice, but everything past that sorta felt like they didn't know where they were going with it?
Ok indies (and I'm looking especially at you Death's Door)
look, screen shake is great, but if I'm struggling with a boss because I can't see what's going on, turn off all your FX, and then beat the boss without taking a hit,
That's too much juice, let some of the juice out, be like 20% less juicy
Anyways, Death's Door aesthetic is interesting. If you peel back the layers, what's there is really simple, so I suspect they felt they had to over-compensate with Stuff on top. Not entirely sure they really needed all that Stuff? but I get the inclination regardless.
I will learn nothing from this and over-juice our next game in exactly the same way, out of concern that our lowfi aesthetic is otherwise just a bit too plain. Naturally.
@brazmogu eh, really it's nothing like Souls. It came out in that era where everything was, so it kinda got tarred with that brush, but it's quite forgiving. No death penalty at all! Pretty great.
It's hard, but no harder than most games like this really.
