Apple Weather's 12-hour precipitation map takes so long to load in every time that 9/10 times I just close it and give up. Is that a universal experience? Or are Apple's local CDNs just abnormally slow here?

This progress bar either stalls or takes upwards of 30 seconds to resolve.

@stroughtonsmith I never had too many issues with load time (in Barcelona and London), it loads pretty much instantly. It is usually wrong, but it is wrong fast.

My dad's home was destroyed by a massive flood in the city where I grew up and where he currently lives. It’s the worst flood in over 100 years, and he lost almost all of his possessions, including the equipment he uses for work. Is this really a thing? I don’t have a MBP with High Power mode but have never heard a fan on any of my M machines.

@paul I experience the fans on my M1 Max going wild while playing Baldur's Gate 3 (in Game mode, which share similar profiles to High Power). Also, battery dying faster than usual. I imagine it is required when doing a lot of GPU work, specially when bridging from other libraries (like Vulkan).

When your laptop says it has 10% battery remaining, do you:

a) Plug it in immediately
or
b) Think "I'd better plug it in soon" then wonder why it switches off an hour later, like I do basically every time.

@twostraws c) Think to myself “oh… It will die soon” and when the times comes, close the laptop and say out loud “well, time for a quick break while it charges a bit” while standing to prepare some coffee.

@snazzyq Something I purchased recently that has been proving to be a great purchase is a HDMI switch. My TV does not have a good ARC port and being able to connect all 4 consoles to a single port (with optical-audio output to the sound bar) made it way easier to “fast swap” between devices.

The most surprising news about Tweetdeck being broken is that Tweetdeck is still alive. I know press would riot if not got killed but that sounds like even more incentive for him to kill it.

No matter how good Apple's hand-tracking is going to be, I really hope there's going to be an MFi hand-controller spec so I can play all the fun controller-essential VR games everybody else has 👀

@stroughtonsmith I imagine (pure assumption) that if Beats Saber comes in the release day, as some rumours are saying, the device would have some motion controllers.

@stroughtonsmith Beat saber requires some motion enabled “stick” and floor definition (the definition of floor changes a bit according to the platform). Not possible with hands/camera only.

Anyone got a good recommendation for a standing desk VESA mount, that's not a $250+ Ergotron LX Tall? The Amazon Basics Ergotron white label that I was planning to use is pretty great but needs to go up 6-9" more for proper positioning.

@paul You could re-wire it and use to replace some lamp chord. So the lightning cable would be use to helping lighting the room/desk.

Figured it out with all your help, thank you! Something I have to re-learn from is to not overthink puzzles in . They WANT you to solve them so they are not some cryptic enigma. The answer is usually staring you in the face, you just have to not have tunnel vision to see it.

Also, can we just take a moment and appreciate the beauty of this game? It really is stunning. 🥰
