It runs now as a bhyve instance, sharing serial devices is however difficult.

I give it another try with this guide. Thanks for sharing

@brendan @homeassistant Follow up. I noticed that the bhyve VM had the add on option for various things I needed. But tthr freebsd jail core version not.

So I tried Ser2net on the host and the add on for on the VM.
A lot of fiddling in the settings but succes.🤞

could someone, smarter than me, tell me why my Sonoff zigbee usb dongle is detected but will not work in a RaspberryPi USB3 port, but works fine in a USB2 port.

When plugged into USB3 port Zigbee2Mqtt sees it but will not find or connect to any zigbee devices or find any new devices. moving it to USB2 fixes it.

Im curious if its the dongle, the RPi, something with USB3, both? I dont have much hardware debugging experience to know where to look

I want to get gas usage data into my energy dashboard but my gas meter doesn't expose any kind of IR port or radio signal that I can find. It reports to the gas company daily, however, and I can download a file with daily usage from a non-authenticated link.

HOWEVER that file is only populated sometime after midnight.

Does anyone know how to backdate a sensor reading such that I can get the usage to appear on the previous day?

@kravemir @zrail @homeassistant @homeassistant Prometheus or VictoriaMetrics are super efficient in storing long term data. Sqlite3 has less performance when it grows, there is an obvious reason why HA documents limiting the history and does do it by default.

The acrylic case and fan I ordered for the VisionFive 2 a few weeks ago arrived today.

Like almost everything in the RISC-V ecosystem, it arrived as a bunch of raw parts without instructions. Nothing I couldn’t handle, though.

Vraag over Proton VPN, ik gebruik de gratis versie, en dan zou je 3 servers kunnen gebruikt, Nederland, Japan en US. Op mijn telefoon klopt dat. Maar op mijn laptop (windows) lijk ik alleen Japan te kunnen gebruiken. Weet iemand waar ik voor Nederland zou kunnen kiezen in de windows-app?

@Kaa Ik had ook NL servers dacht ik. Nu betaalde versie en dat is veel beter met ad blocks en meer. Wellicht dat @protonvpn dat kan beantwoorden (hope they use translate)

@protonvpn I use on a daily basis, phone and ipad. No issues with more battery consumption or whatever. Just a fast connection and it gives a better protection due to the ad and spam filtered enabled connection.

Ik heb al, zolang kabeltv bestaat een aansluiting van Ziggo (en al de voorgangers waarvan ik de naam niet meer weet, oa @home) en sinds deze zomer heb ik ook een glasvezelaansluiting. Toch zie ik geen enkele reden (afgezien van de prijs, maar daar heb ik zelf redelijk wat invloed op, qua paketten) om van Ziggo over te stappen naar glas. 1gb up en 100gb down is voor mij ruim voldoende.

@Luuk_Aalders @harld Glasvezel geeft je wel meer keuzevrijheid in aanbieders. Al is veel wederom geconcentreerd rondom KPN en de vele dochtermaatschappijen. T-mobile bv kan ook (Ziggo moeder) voor rond de 53 euro incl TV
De snelheid van 50gbs is voldoende voor normaal gebruik in een groter gezin incl TV streams

@ErikJonker Baas over mijn data is ook wel een belangrijk item.
Begrijp alleen niet dat dat mega platform het fediverse mag binnendringen en data mag vergaren als je contact legt. Lijkt wel een data virus dat bedrijf.

(1/2) Sinds meer dan een jaar de grasvlakte achter in de tuin ververangen door een voedselbosje voor de dieren en een wildere tuin met inheemse planten, struiken en eetbare fruitsoorten. Aangevuld met een vijver zonder vissen voor de waterliefhebbers onder de dieren.

Nu niet alleen is het een beter idee voor ons, een mooier een rijkgeschakeerd uitzicht maar werkelijk wat doet het ons goed en vooral de dieren. 10x meer vogels, soorten die we voorheen niet zagen. De vijver is vol met leven. Kevers, libelles, insecten.
Een aanrader voor wie de en of wil aanpakken.

Installed FreeBSD 14.0 on a Thinkpad T480s. Using lessons learned so far on my test Thinkpad X230, I'm going to make this into my main laptop/desktop.

@dwarmstrong I used your Sway version as starter on and it was installed and running surprisingly fast. Some tweaking on system settings for my laptop for ACPI. I love it

Spent an entire day trying to get anything to work as a midi synth or sampler or ANYTHING to stay connected to my MIDI keyboard.

  • Fluidsynth/Fluidpatcher worked for a while and then stopped, after a fruitless afternoon on Github troubleshooting
  • MT32-pi doesn't work with USB audio devices and the builtin audio is unacceptable
  • Zynthian didn't boot at all
  • Minidexed is so hardcore you can't switch patches without an attached display

So, I'm giving up for now. Any other ideas?

I setup some time ago on a RPI4. Easy setup once the hardware is connected as it should be. This could be always on if you want. Not sure what went wrong in your case. I sid not have to do any special setup or thinkering. You could opt for the kits they offer, even easier
