@kevinteljeur@mastodon.online

Dublin 15, Ireland. Nobody wants to read what I write once they’ve read what I’ve written. I assuredly will write it. I also post occasionally about coding, bird-feeding, photos of things, cycling, and drawing (once in a while).

I architect and develop web systems to move data for a very big non-commercial organisation. I'd love to make something that improves the world for everyone though. Maybe one day?

    @devxvda @markdennehy I'll second this, sometimes I put wet mould in my ears and it's very comforting

    Ammi Burke returns to High Court for hearing on claim of unfair dismissal from law firm

    @colm_ryan I find that their appearances always make for educational reading. You can see that their claim will fail, but because people followed due process carefully and by the numbers. The outcomes were telegraphed.

    @colm_ryan @devxvda @CaroleDuckyIrPsych (if I recall) on here pointed it out; it's all about impressing mam.

    And it is. So they climb over each other to impress mam with this stuff that they objectively should know will fail. But mam demands it, so they carry on. Even when mam in each case is the reason that the actions fail. She sinks it and demands that they try harder, it's fucked up.

    We’re at the ‘kicking Eugen because he doesn’t have a bottomless well of VC funding with which to build out Mastodon as a massive product development company which does all the things I want without me paying anything’ stage again. Mastodon has weaknesses and lacks features, this is valid and true, but comparing it some VC funded shiny thing is very unfair.

    kevinteljeur,
    @kevinteljeur@mastodon.online avatar

    Yeah, there it goes. When you see those things, don’t bother engaging. Those people should go to Bluesky and knock themselves out there.

    Just to clarify, I’m not some Mastodon or Gargron fanboy, but people are inventing a reality here to build up some exciting narrative.

    For the first of a modified Muna&Broad Sculthorpe pants. I turned the V-pockets into straight slashes and added a matching zipped pocket at the knee, perfect for flying...

    Unfortunately, I forgot to close the right knee pocket before getting on a plane in April and absolutely torn the pocket asunder on an armrest while going down the aisle.

    Ended up getting thread from hotel reception to repair it that evening.

    I still need to go back over the top stitching, but it's good enough...

    A photo of a torn trouser leg, the pocket is wide open showing tissue fluff. Some thigh can be seen through the tear. The zip has been parted. The background is the floor of an aircraft.
    A green coloured trouser leg with a zippered pocket. The seam is uneven and darker colour fabric is exposed. Remnants of top stitching thread remain but the seam is no longer topstitched.
    A fat woman in a navy firefox tshirt and green multi pocket trousers points at a dandelion clock. The lawn is full of dandelions. Behind is an orange door and a wheely bin.

    @dominykas There might be a regulatory issue with the manufacturer changing the hardware after the fact, or that old chestnut of risk (Jean-Louis Gassée has written a bit about Tesla and cars, and he made some points about traditional car manufacturer risk aversion compared to Tesla, and about reliability).

    But I do agree with you!

    "A lot of the defensive maneuvering on Mastodon is happening because Mastodon fans know that the network absolutely cannot compete on user friendliness and basic social functionality, so they’re leaning hard into the things it does get right—and then, in some cases, trying to shame people into not even thinking about trying a competing network."

    If you're thinking about buying Loop Earplugs, particularly to help with sound sensitivity due to , please use my referral link - https://community.loopearplugs.com/s/dr.nick - and save 15%

    I realise this makes me a shill for Loops. My honest opinion of their products are:
    Quiets - Great
    Experiences - Good
    Engage - Horrible

    Foam tips - No
    Mutes - Meh

    If in doubt buy the Plus version of the Experience. You can't use a Mute with the Quiet - unless you want to make a fashion statement.
