Gotta love the Danes. Last year there was an archaeological conference in Korsør titled: "If you let me see yours, I'll let you see mine… 1st Millennium Weapons and Riding Gear". Somehow I can't really see this happening in the US.

Disappointed. Titanium implant in upper jaw got infected and had to be removed before I even got a plastic tooth screwed onto it. Now I have to wait another five months for the bone to regenerate before the surgeon can drill a new hole and put in another implant.

It was an appreciation of you preparing the salad. I do not promote vodka, maybe I am untypical Pole. Relating to bawarka: funny that you mention it. My mother used to serve it to herself and to me (not sure if father liked it) - a childhood memory. Thanks.

@ninokadic @philosophy it is single blind, only the revs are anonymous. I think some journals in and give revs the option to have their reviews published along with the paper, or maybe this is given to the authors, but the reviewers’ identity always remains confidential

The OSIRIS-REx spacecraft has released the capsule carrying pieces of the asteroid Bennu collected in 2020.

The capsule will enter Earth's atmosphere at 10:42 EDT for a parachute-assisted landing around 10:55 a.m. EDT in Utah.

Distance from earth at 8:00 a.m. EDT = 70,000 km.

OSIRIS-REx will sail past Earth for its next mission to rendezvous with asteroid Apophis.

NASA webcast begins at 10:00 EDT.

@j_bertolotti Indeed that is what I meant. I put some abstract takes in intro to my PhD thesis, but with the grads whom I advised this mistake I did correct (by syggesting them to build their intros around the basic, useful stuff).

As someone working in , it will never cease to amaze me how easy it is for people to misunderstand each other when the word "mode" enters the discussion.
(To be fair, the proper definition of "mode" in is far from obvious and/or trivial.)

So you are on the beach...
But ?
Of course, they always are there.

In the part of Tuscany where I am, the sand is extremely rich of iron, and thanks to magnetic fields it is easy to isolate it with a small magnet 🧲.

(I bet the iron composition also explain why this sand gets incredibly hot during the central hours of days, way beyond most of other sand from beaches in Italy, which are instead mostly calcareous and attracted by no magnetic fields)
