Gotta love the Danes. Last year there was an archaeological conference in Korsør titled: "If you let me see yours, I'll let you see mine… 1st Millennium Weapons and Riding Gear". Somehow I can't really see this happening in the US.
Disappointed. Titanium implant in upper jaw got infected and had to be removed before I even got a plastic tooth screwed onto it. Now I have to wait another five months for the bone to regenerate before the surgeon can drill a new hole and put in another implant.
@mrundkvist No. "Zuch" means "one hell of a Lad" or something similar ;-)
It was an appreciation of you preparing the salad. I do not promote vodka, maybe I am untypical Pole. Relating to bawarka: funny that you mention it. My mother used to serve it to herself and to me (not sure if father liked it) - a childhood memory. Thanks.
Merry Christmas.
@ninokadic@philosophy Congratulations. Interesting to see, that in your field the manuscripts are anonymized at submission (suppose this was double-blind review). Hmm.. intersting.
@ninokadic@philosophy it is single blind, only the revs are anonymous. I think some journals in #optics and #physics give revs the option to have their reviews published along with the paper, or maybe this is given to the authors, but the reviewers’ identity always remains confidential
I was spectacularly bad at Brass but very motivated to learn, and I did. I am spectacularly bad at Scythe too, but I plan to remain bad because it is not interactive enough for my taste. Screw Wingspan and all competitive solitaire games!
As someone working in #Optics, it will never cease to amaze me how easy it is for people to misunderstand each other when the word "mode" enters the discussion.
(To be fair, the proper definition of "mode" in #electrodynamics is far from obvious and/or trivial.)
@j_bertolotti hmm for a waveguiding optics-guy like me, a mode is a type of a wave, a solution given by the M. equations (but I will appreciate my narrow view expanded) 🤔
