I'm about to update my book on #vim but as I am now mostly using #neovim, I'm a little bit outdated about #vim plugin management. What would you recommend instead of pathogen (for vim, not for neovim)?
@vjousse What did you end up using? I found out Vundle is broken today.
I'm probably going to switch to the plain vim package manager, instead of using something custom.
I don't know if neovim has the same thing built in?
Microsoft's "Recall" is similar to "TimeSnapper", that Atli and I have been developing and distributing for the past 17 years or so.
I'm fascinated by the reaction that Microsoft get, compared to what we receive at TimeSnapper.
People are naturally curious about performance impacts, and hope to keep all data local. But when "we" (TimeSnapper) say the data stays on your machine, customers just believe us.
Microsoft, meanwhile, is emphatically not trusted.
@secretgeek MS has been trying to push everyone to the cloud by forcing you to use an MS account to log in to Windows (to sync your settings, remember) and use OneDrive to sync your data, etc.
And now they say they will spy on your Windows usage but keep it all nicely local? Yeah, right. 😉
@evacide that feature has abuse written all over it. WTF.
They already had some sort of history feature in Win 10. Scared the crap out of me when I ran into it.
I guess it's one more thing to switch off on a Windows box.
It's starting to become a long list...
@reillypascal LogiOptions is kind of lame anyway. I only use it to set the speed of my mouse faster than Windows does. But now that it starts installing AI shit in the background, without mentioning it. That's really lame.
During lunch a friend mentioned that you can just supply a HTTP URL to vim on the command line and it would use curl to download that resource and allow you to edit the content. I jokingly asked whether if you enter :w it would then issue a HTTP POST back to the origin which is of course ridiculous.
You know, I really like to just follow people back on the fedi, but when I see they are American I really hesitate because I don't want my feed to turn into the shitshow that country is at the moment. 😭
I made that mistake with the bird site, and I do not want that again. So sorry if I don't follow you back USians, it's not you, it's your country. 😔
@GothAndy That's true, but it's also the politics and racism and shootings etc etc etc.
I know it's there, but I don't want to read about it every day.
Does anyone have an idea why Bing refuses to index my site, while other search engines like Google or Yandex don't have any issues doing so?
Bing webmaster tools tell me only vague general reasons why it wouldn't work, and none of them are valid.
@setto yeah, that's how I found out. I couldn't search my own site on ddg.
It's kinda ironic. They want people to stop using Google, but their webmaster tools suck ass. 🤷♂️
@heyheymomo As a kid I used to think all my drawings existed in some alternate dimension. I also wondered if I just drew a head, if it was part of a body in that dimension, or just a head...
teens these days I cannot fucking believe the kinds of music they will be listening. stupid goddamm bleep bloop music. stupid freaking snort snort honk farm animal music. goddamm kids these days. they only listen to freaking pig albums nowadays . the goddamn kids. all they like is albums of music made exclusively from field recordings of a single pig over the course of its lifespan, including post mortem. cant stand the kids these days with their stupid high concept electronic music and that
