Does anyone have a link to a summary of the bill (and its harms) that cites the actual bill? I'm not denying that it's harmful; I'm frustrated with the fact that no article I've seen so far has backed up its claims by quoting the actual text.

@slcw how are Christians who've explicitly disavowed and worked against those horrors still culpable for them? there's over 2 billion in the world and over 200 million in the US; obviously too many of those people are incredibly shitty, I agree with you there, but there's as many differences between beliefs as there are differences between people, so generalizing like that doesn't seem that useful

@slcw "picking and choosing which aspects of the religion they're going to identify with" is, on a broader scale, basically how all culture and religion has worked since those things have existed. societies evolve, people change, divisions form. unless you seriously expect every single individual in the over 2 billion population of Christians, across innumerable locations and cultures to believe the exact same thing in the exact same way and take the exact same actions in practicing it?

Mastodon is great, the only thing I miss on this app is quote posts. I know they have a bad rap bc of Twitter, but every major social network has this functionality for a reason (Tumblr, LinkedIn, Facebook, IG). As a journalist, I’d love to add commentary and amplify great info, build on ppl’s points, etc. You just can’t do that the same wait with replies! Is there any chance we might get them on here?

@taylorlorenz The beauty of open-source software is that you can write the feature yourself and make a pull request to have your contributions added. So I guess we'll get quote-toots on Mastodon as soon as somebody writes it and gets it approved

@aeva The migraines one seems really helpful, from a certain point of view. Words are an imperfect tool to communicate pain; maybe others would understand if they could experience for themselves exactly what you're feeling

@jabberati @aeva I'd suspect a sizable amount of the folks who chose that (including myself) are disabled people, esp those whose disabilities are "invisible". Too many of us have had our symptoms dismissed and ignored by people who don't understand what it's like, and/or have been told "oh well you don't look disabled" as an excuse to deny us accommodations. It's so hard to convince other people that yes, I'm completely serious about what I experience and what I need, I'm not just "faking it"
