On one side, the nVidia 555 drivers ABSOLUTELY F*CKING SMASH and they actually work nice. Explicit sync is SUCH a boon and it fixes so many things with Wayland.

On the other?

Steam streaming on Wayland is uberf*cked now. It was trying to work before, now it doesn't even try to show the "let me work on it for a bit".

At least the steam link flatpak still works.

The hoops through which I need to jump to sign into my addons mozilla.org account in Thunderbird are UNREAL.

  • Need ThunderWebTabs
  • Need to open the addons page in thunderbird
  • Then need to copy the sign in LINK and not click it
  • Then I need to open that link VIA THUNDERWEBTABS

And only THEN does Thunderbird allow me to be signed into the extensions site.

was my domain registrar for many years (20+). But they raised prices after being acquired last year in ways I cannot support anymore.

So I went looking and compared prices, based on my domain portfolio, limited to EU-based registrars. The fediverse was really helpful in sharing candidates, thank you to all who helped!

Result: From an average of 22€/year per domain I can now go down to 12€/year.

AND NO, JAN, THIS DOESNT MEAN YOU CAN BUY MORE DOMAINS!1!! ;)

Just opened my ThinkPad and for the second time in three days the act of closing the laptop to sleep it, then opening it again had caused Ubuntu to hardlock. This time I got a very brief small printout about "amd ring 0 error", then it went back to a black screen and I had to hold down the power button again.

I thought getting a ThinkPad, getting AMD cpu/gpu and picking the Linux distro Lenovo lists as supported would mean I got a minimally functioning computer but I guess not.

@mentallyalex @shoq @jhpot generally speaking, while I do understand the heavy distaste for the man up top (though clearly he's a bottom huehuehue), my Model 3 has served my needs just fine for the longest while.

I'll admit I'm not driving super long distances each month, or even week - my odometer LITERALLY just cleared 40004KM (24857.33mi) this past week, and I've owned this car since September 2018. But still. Car's been fine, generally speaking. And it's been better than my Volt & Leaf.

@boilingsteam for all the bile I want to throw at Nintendo, Yuzu (and ryujinx!) having a patreon for "funding the development" is inviting trouble. Unless they had a VERY, VERY ironclad case against Nintendo, and were officially "located" in a jurisdiction that would explicitly protect an LLC from lawsuits of this nature (specifically going after the untested part of the DMCA re: encryption), Yuzu was going to get targeted.

If anything, I'm surprised they weren't targeted EARLIER.

@kde can you start posting about Falkon? I quite like the little thing for what it can offer (even though it's basically KDE Chromium), but as it stands it does need quite a bit of work to get it to support modern user features like the industry standard WebExtensions :P
