@classicalmusic
A month of classical music by women composers, chosen mostly by women musicians, to celebrate the month of the Women's World Cup in football.
A piece from each nation playing on the day, with the opportunity to vote for your favourite.
I learned so much when Steve did this for the men's football, really looking forward to this.

self,

@emmaaum @classicalmusic Steve wants you pay him to make a playlist. People make playlists all the time and don't ask to be paid to do so. Even I have a playlist website that is free to anyone that has no ads, no crawlers or tracking. This guy is fishy.

self,

@emmaaum @classicalmusic Not to mention, is he playing other people's music on his podcasts and videos? Did he obtain the rights to do so? If not he is stealing from the mouths of musicians.

self,

@mrundkvist What did you have for breakfast?

self,

@mrundkvist I had a salad. My very own special recipe for what could be called a chicken salad, but is nothing like traditional chicken salads. Not normal breakfast food, but I had not eaten in almost 24 hours. I love gruyère cheese!

: The Early Albums Collection (2023). I can honestly recommend it. It is a solid collection.

I am well aware of the whiteness wars in . I had a professor who tried a little too hard to indoctrinate students about white influence and participation in jazz throughout its many phases, completely missing the (many) point(s). I countered his arguments in more than one paper.

However, this collection is awesome. Hall was an admirable musician from what I have read about him. @jazz

@65dBnoise Is that white space on the rocks just the sunlight? Or, is it discoloration?

If I didn't know I was looking at Mars I would assume I was looking at fungus on rocks somewhere on Earth.

self,

@petergleick As someone in a Southeastern Republican stronghold, I just love it when so-called "" forget real people live under Republican regimes that are in fact, real people, not just right wing fodder.

Clearly, folks like you are in the moral high ground (That's sarcasm, just in case it was missed).

Here is a zoom-in into the Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex, whose image was released today on JWST's science anniversary.

Note that the JWST image covers a narrow 0.1° x 0.1° area near the central part of the Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex, which itself is 4.5° × 6.5° wide.

A really wonderful interview with Hilary Hahn in which she discusses her relationship with, and marks the occasion of 100 years of Ysaÿe's sonatas. It is no surprise that Hahn discusses to some extent in this interview. Of course, Hahn doesn't need to pitch her new album, and doesn't. The entire violin world is aware!

Which is the best Star Trek series?
@nocontexttrek

self,

@reginagrogan @nocontexttrek Strange New Worlds is becoming a favorite, but it hard to imagine any series outranking Deep Space Nine, which is followed by Voyager and Discovery. That being said, my second favorite character in all of comes from Enterprise.

self,

@nocontexttrek @reginagrogan Though I do love Phlox dearly, I was referring Lt. Malcolm Reed. I even have Dominic Keating's autographed picture directly above my desk. My 1st favorite character is Kira Nerys, which is not all that uncommon.

TOS (8ET): Obsession
TNG (9ET): Pen Pals
DS9 (10ET): Through the Looking Glass
VOY (11ET): The Fight
ENT (midnight): Detained

self,

@MirrorAyako @allstartrek I just recently learned that Kid Chaos in "The Fight" was played by Tarik Ergin, who we saw a lot in and in various roles including Satan's Robot from the Captain Proton holoprograms, Lieutenant Ayala, seen in several Voyager episodes, several random Voyager & Enterprise aliens, the primary Insectoid Xindi, and even a Tellarite & a Hirogen. He left acting & won fame as a lacrosse coach. https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Tarik_Ergin

@MirrorAyako @allstartrek Yeah, but Jadzia is a genius, and she has a exobiology degree which is essentially pre-med, in addition to degrees in zoology, astrophysics, and exoarchaeology. Medical degrees are overrated anyways.
