@MichelPatrice@gael most apps work fine with it, you can check https://plexus.techlore.tech for compatibility.
Usually only some banking apps have issues.
You probably want to use microG so the right rating is the one you care about.
@mingu apparently it can be done https://social.vivaldi.net/@heronheart/112490582109480803
I believe its more of a chromium thing, the setting has to be extra implemented.
Also I did not ask for advice, I asked Vivaldi to either add the option for custom engines or to add Mojeek.
@dansup I think alt 2 takes to much away from the profile, which is not good on the profile page.
I personally prefer the user icon on the left, at the same time alt 1 is the best IMO. Its a good use of space to but all the things there in one row. People have pointed out that the bio link is more important, maybe moving it to the same row as the name and putting it on the left side works?
anyone using #beeper? how do you like it? how's their storage of credentials? that's the only bit that really makes me nervous.
i'm also curious how well #matrix works for it. my general experience with matrix as an end user with "normal" people has been overall terrible, even with great projects like @element
@hobbsc@element depends, you login on the client and they scrape the session ID's and store them on their server.
But they also work on new version of the bridges, currently in Android there is a local Signal bridge where they keep the session ID locally. That was possible with SMS too once, but they didnt add that back in the 2.0 android app.
They have merged with texts.com which is fully locally so who knows what will happen there.
If this lands on your feed, tell me about different features that are just missing in Matrix.
It can be anything, but please don't include memes like "unable to decrypt message" or other things that are already in the works, or maybe has already been merged (e.g media captions)
Some examples include better forwarded messages, rich profiles, or a live location sharing, just to name a few.
(I am writing something about this, boosts appreciated!)
It's getting expensive to fund all these out of pocket, and as it stands I may have to limit myself to Pixelfed only if we can't get more financial support.
@dansup not financial but @devs (Fastly) has the fast forward program with which their offer there services (like CDN) for free for open source projects that qualify.
They have interest in the fediverse and already sponsor my instance fosstodon.org
Telegram is notoriously insecure and routinely cooperates with govs behind the scenes while talking a big game about speech and privacy. Even their limited opt-in (roll their own) encryption is sus. The more you know 🌈
@Mer__edith rest of the alt text "
🛡 Telegram is the only massively popular messaging service that allows everyone to make sure that all of its apps indeed use the same open source code that is published on Github. For the past ten years, Telegram Secret Chats have remained the only popular method of communication that is verifiably private 💪"
I've been digging around Ecosia documentation for a potential upcoming sponsorship and found that they now offer Google results as well, on top of the Bing ones from before. Neat!
Why couldnt EA just use Steam?!
trying to launch Sims 4 for over an hour now.
Doesnt work because the stupid EA app tries to download two expansions that I did not tell it to do, that I do not even own and that wont actually download. I cant stop the download and can only play once the download is complete
I installed #Orbot by @torproject roughly two weeks ago on my phone to help people circumvent #censorship. In that short time I already helped almost 400 people reach the #internet. You can learn how it works and how to help (it's a click of a button) here: https://snowflake.torproject.org/
