I grew up pretty poor and my husband grew up well off, but he's in denial and this conversation just transpired:

Me: Your parents built a brand new house before you were born so you'd have somewhere nice to grow up.

Husband: They didn't build it themselves!

Me: EXACTLY! They paid people like my father to build it.

@Alice Yeah my Mom went she came ( emigrated to the US) was a farm girl. They had a big bed and what could fit ( side-ways lol ) she had 11 brothers and sisters! Lost her Mom at 11 Dad at 13yo( my grandparents on her side) no such thing as adoption, each of the rest of the family took one kid in and raised them , my mom by my Aunt Mary. with 11 children she was already married by that time do to birth spread with the children. All this is normal and we thought nothing of it !

@msquebanh Yes Napalm pretty much destroyed the ecosystem in Vietnam with those carpet bombings and as you say the effects of Agent Orange were devastating to your people but nothing in retribution for what amounted to real war crimes. Me, I HATE WAR as nothing good NOTHING!!! ever comes from it.. sad how some profit from it but they do not care what happens to the population it destroys

@msquebanh and it gets worse because as Military advanced weapons they do not even have to be there forced to feel and experience the destruction, just sitting in their comfy chairs and lobbing them at countries is scary!

@msquebanh The Philippines did have it share of sorrow, not concerning the US but what it went through with the Japanese occupation during WWII example the Bataan Death March as an example, most never lived to see land again 🥺
