Is useless?

Opened a shop there, listed one of @vaviurka's handmade teddy bears, filled out all their creepy, intrusive bullshit (bank account, payment verification, identity verification), item online, all good.

Two days later, account suspended. No reason given, no email sent, nothing. Apparently I can appeal, but not sure for what.

What's an alternative that works, or do I have to make my own webshop because commercial internet is useless scum?

Just wanted to sell a cute bear :-/

Before giving up for today, I took apart the sauna and shifted a bunch of rocks to expose the crack in the hot water pipe. It's going to be a pain in the ass to weld there, the crack is in a tight corner and of course on the bottom.

Access is limited, there's a wall on two sides and I'll have to bend myself in there. Maybe I can remove the wire mesh for better access, but probably I'll have to take out all the rocks then. Argh.

Close-up of the thinner pipe from before. There's a big crack where the pipe is making a 90 degree turn, on the inside of the elbow. Bright rust and water are visible.

After hours of calibrating the Mitre saw and almost losing my mind over it, it is done.

No wonder I struggled with this saw. The calibration was maxed out and I had to file the elongated holes in the fence longer to actually get it true. Plus, aligning the blade to the slot first was a real hassle. Eventually made a spacer with good result.

Then it checked out at 90° but not at 45° until I realized this red square had a problem too. You can probably spot it!

yngmar,
@yngmar@social.tchncs.de avatar

@ubo A what?

yngmar,
@yngmar@social.tchncs.de avatar

@ubo Ah, I haven't advanced that far yet, but I do have two types of square to choose from, a square one and a slightly off one that sometimes fits better! 😁

yngmar,
@yngmar@social.tchncs.de avatar

@ubo My problem today (well, one of them) was this little red aluminium thing. It's actually quite acurate. The 45° side too. But if you put the diagonal against a flat surface, the inner tips of the square lifted it off the surface!

This was maddening until I spotted it and filed the tips off so it would lay flat. Suddenly my calibration worked at 45° too. Argh :blobcattableflip:

Macro light done.

Made a mount for it that hangs back and aside, so it can double as handle, the camera can stand up straight on it and the access door for the USB connector of the camera isn't blocked.

It took ages to figure out a position which enabled all of the above, but then that's why you make your own kit.

Works pretty well and happy with the result. Satisfying amount of salvaged parts, too.

Mirror selfie of the macro light installed on the red camera. My right hand grasps the camera as normal, the left hand the black case, which is now mounted vertically and off to the side of the camera, acting as second handle. The ring LED is installed on the lens and lit up brightly, partially reflecting in the mirror and back onto the lens.
A random tiny dead insect that happened to be readily laying on the window sill today. It's less than 2mm long, laying on its back and clasping its legs in death. It looks like a tiny fly.

This week's major project is splitting the tractor, to replace the failed oil seal which is leaking oil from the gearbox into the clutch housing. We've got to the point where the only thing still holding the front half of the tractor to the rear is the steering linkage, and I can't remember how we split that last time!

yngmar,
@yngmar@social.tchncs.de avatar

@withaveeay @simon_brooke Sorry, no magic solutions. It clearly is supposed to come off that way.

So just the usual: leggo spray, banging on it, heavymetal music, swearing and threatening it with a blowtorch or welder.

If the puller already slipped a few times, it's perhaps time to sharpen its fangs. They do get knackered from that. Or the dodgy method: A Jubilee clip around the paws.

That's all I've got :)

More fun facts:

These chickens are giving me the side-eye. The closest ones look at me with their right eye, the ones further away with their left eye.

This is because the right eye is nearsighted and the left eye is far-sighted - so when they get closer, the head switches sides.

Chickens can also see UV light, so they perceive more of the spectrum than humans, but they have extremely poor nightvision and thus go to bed (roost) early.

imo we should have a holiday where cars are completely banned from roads and highways and people get to ride all sorts of bike, skate, scooter and rollerblade adjacent things there. Having this also for railroad tracks would also be fun

Great Moments in Sorting.

I was this many years old when I realized why iMovie was never showing up in the "Recent Items" list. I'd expect this from Android, but come on...

yngmar,
@yngmar@social.tchncs.de avatar

@jwz I guess someone decided "real apps use proper capitalization" and then later on someone else came up with the iThing caps and they had an office feud ever since.

Then a third guy suggested sorting by the second letter instead but he was found stapled to a whiteboard one morning so nobody dared bring it up again.

Chickens love scratching. When you dump some stuff in the chicken coop, you don't need to worry about spreading it out, the chickens will do it for you.

That's why its good to have the pile in there. Also because they love pecking through the vegetable scraps.

Here they've got some dry raspberry stems that went through (our branch shredder), turning them into mulch.

Five chickens in the backyard, scratching through some freshly dumped raspberry mulch. They're using their powerful legs to kick away the branches and find tasty insects between them.

Alright so you know how there are RGB LED strips, where each LED is individually addressable, right? How each LED has a little chip that waits patiently for its turn to get a colour instruction from the MPU controlling it?

Has some cleverclogs invented That But For Switches, where I can get a bunch of little switches with chips built in and just run them all to the same damn pin, or am I stuck building a switch matrix like a chump

EDIT: Cheers Fedi, think I'm on the right track now. Don't worry, I'm not gonna try and do anything timing-sensitive like a pinball machine or anything haha

Another half forgotten thing done: Crosscut sled for the table saw.

Some floorboard offcuts, two carefully whittled strips for the tracks, a bit of glue to keep them in place before also screwing them on. And two bridges, of course.

Need to find an old candle to rub on the bottom, but test cuts work well enough already.

Not wiggling, but we'll see how the wooden strips do over time - the workshop is a bit drafty and they might shrink/expand.

#TableSaw #Woodworking #DIY #Tools #Jig

Finished sled with two bridges installed and first cut made. The sawblade sticks up from the new slot in the center. A test piece has a gap cut into it.

yngmar,
@yngmar@social.tchncs.de avatar

@ubo I screwed it down on one side only and aligned it to the track slots with a square. Then screwed down the other end.

Then did it again because it somehow slipped. Second time it worked fine though :)

One of the tools I use for is , but there is still a lot I have to learn. There are a lot of YT-Channels offering tutorials for FreeCad, but one of the most valuable, if not the best, for woodworkers is Geoff Glasson's channel and I highly recommend it.
