I'm wanting to leave Spotify (there are so many reasons for doing so) and I've read that Tidal is the streaming service distributing the biggest share to artists (probably after Bandcamp, but that's a different kind of service).

Has anybody experienced Tidal and seen drawbacks? Or do they somewhat have weaker values than Spotify's CEO and I didn't catch that information?

I make videos of clips from my gaming and post them to an instagram account. I’ve been doing it for over a year. For no one. Almost zero followers or interactions. But I LOVE doing it.

I love making clips of moments that I’m proud of. I love editing the videos. I treat them like I have millions of followers. And it’s okay that I don’t. I’m happy simply doing it.

Be your own biggest fan. It’s fun.

Clips of goals that I’ve scored beginning with a title that reads ‘right place, right time.’ Goal one is a long goal that’s side swiped at top speed. Goal two is head on towards a ball a defender accidentally sent into the air in front of their goal. I barrel roll over two defenders on the ground. Goal three I hit the ball off the wall and barrel roll back into stride on the ground before the defender sends the ball in my direction and I beat them to it to send it into the net. Goal four I uturn quickly towards a ball that’s sent down from above and gracefully give it a bump back into the air before following it at top speed and twisting over the defender. Goal five is ricocheted off the corner wall in my path towards the goal and I hit it with the side of my car into the net.

• «Jeu vidéo et gamification», qui fait collaborer les étudiant·e·s de l'université #UNIL avec celles et ceux de l'école polytechnique voisine #EPFL sur la création de jeux vidéo. [BSc-MA]

• «Plateformes et interfaces», avec @pyhurel, lors duquel nous étudierons l'Amiga 500. [BA]

• «Le jeu vidéo : code source, lecture distante, dispositifs», sur la rencontre entre game studies et humanités numériques. Je donne celui-ci pour la première fois 🙂 [MA]

It looks like my extremely simple auto-moderation script is working now. It's doing nothing clever, so will have to change if the spammer changes pretty much anything about what they're doing, but they seem to have stuck with the same format for about 24 hours now.

My kid and I are spending a lot of our free time playing Dragon Quest Builders. This never happened before with such a high intensity. DQB is doing a lot of things right and I am now totally appreciating this experience and the exchange it allows between us. Even if the game is single-player, the interface is far from perfect, and everything takes so much time. In the end, this is a very well balanced game, situated in the middle between the action-RPG genre and a Minecraft clone.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 seems to have local co-op. Has anyone played that one? #DragonQuest #VideoGames

Seen in the book Day of the Tentacle by Bob Mackey (2023).

"At the time [when we were developing the original game], [LucasArts] had an archive room. They had two full-time archivists, even in the floppy days. And there was a room full of drawers with floppy discs [that contained the finished game as well as previous “milestone” drafts], before the end, you would take it down to Wendy [and her team]. They’re credited as being the “burning goddesses” in the credits because they burned all the CDs. It was the burning room. They sat there burning CDs all day long. But, in the old days, there was a whole room, and two full-time positions of archiving stuff.

I feel like there was the feeling at LucasArts, because Lucas himself had that archive, the barn, and that’s where all the LucasArts stuff is now, is in the barn at the ranch. So, there was that feeling of: Take care of the artifacts of the thing that you’re making because you’ll want them someday."

Not all companies were that clever 🙄
