@pvonhellermannn I've boycotted this dreadful company for several years for its bad treatment of its warehouse workers. It hurts my book sales not having them available there, but at least I can sleep at night in that respect. I also boycott the UK government for (among many other things of course) letting Amazon be one of the huge companies that pays next-to-no tax on its huge profits. The UK government cares about my boycott no more than Amazon does, but I can only do what I can do.
Amazon's business model means it's a monopoly that will be very difficult to break. The "market" won't end Amazon monopoly - most people will buy from Amazon because it's more convenient. Plus, Amazon has all the consumer data so it can, for example, see what products are trending and then develop Amazon's brand.
If anything delivery services probably reduce pollution. Instead of 10 people driving 10 cars to the store there is 1 truck making a more efficient trip to bring them their things.
@pvonhellermannn I have boycotted Amazon for many years. I use Bookshop in the UK for books and go direct to the retailer or manufacturer for other items. I often get them cheaper than on Amazon.
@grb090423@pvonhellermannn I used them once, for a part I couldn't get anywhere else. I'm probably using them a lot indirectly by visiting websites which are powered by aws :(
