Was just reminded that you can use no headings in a web page and automated tests will pass you for WCAG compliance.

You can't use the wrong heading structure if you use no headings at all! Automated tests can't tell where the structure needs to be broken up into sections because they would have to understand the nature of the content.

@heydon It would be nice if they could at least give a basic recommendation, like:

  • Count the number of consecutive paragraphs (with no other structuring elements like lists, tables, etc. in between) → "Maybe you should introduce headlines to structure the content"
  • Count the characters inside a single paragraph → "This seems like a very long paragraph. You should try to spit it up."
