Happy 23rd anniversary to Weezer's green album, released today (May 15) in 2001. Man, did I listen to this album a lot, and I still can. Might be my favorite Weezer record but I hate the last song - luckily it's last and I can just turn it off when it comes on. 😂

I remember following along online as they were making it, they were posting updates. Some great unreleased/b-side stuff from this era, too.

@wendigo @jake4480 To me, the Blue album is the Only Truly Good album by Weezer.

Pinkerton is alright.

Green has a few good songs, but it already feels like they're scraping the barrel to me.

After that my impression is they're truly out of ideas, yet they kept going lol

Morlvision progress report: It's going pretty well!

Got most of the song done, shot all the footage, putting together the video as we speak.

Which is good because I only now realised the deadline is actually on Thursday, and not Friday as I thought earlier 😬 😅

The Task Bar is such garbage. I plugged in a second monitor and was wondering if there was a way to get my pinned apps to appear on the secondary Task Bar.

...Toggled an unrelated setting off and back on while poking around Settings, and boom they all suddenly appeared.

I wanted to give it an honest go, but given that this is clearly an amateur knockoff of the much superior Task Bar from previous Windows releases, I may as well look at third-party options lol.

@HunterZ I can't believe I can't have it on the left side of the screen.

This was an option in every version of Windows between 95 and 10. And now it's just... stuck at the bottom.

@DJDarren I've been saying this for years: not having to qualify in the semis is actually terrible for your chances of success during the finals

@DJDarren yeah, there's no doubt. And of course sometimes songs don't qualify, that happens to everyone. But once you're through, you're pretty much guaranteed to have established some kind of fanbase, which will translate to good points in the finals.

Not having to qualify robs entries of that advantage.

I'm deeply shocked to learn of the death of Steve Albini. I'm a huge fan of his work. I watched a YouTube video of him not even a week ago!

Aw man, this is such a bummer. I had secret delusional hopes of ever booking his studio and recording with him.

Steve famously never accepted royalties, not even from Nirvana, because he didn't want to be complicit in the music industry's unethical money game. He viewed it as highly skewed against artists and wouldn't have anything to do with it.

Read his legendary article "The Problem with Music" from 1993 if you haven't already, which includes a breakdown at the end of who made how much from a popular record.

@jake4480 My impression (as a complete outsider who knows nothing really) is that labels don't even invest in artists at all anymore.

Let them get a following by themselves on TikTok or whatever and only sign them when they've already shown to have a fanbase.

I'm pretty sure there's barely if any budget for session musicians either anymore. Just get a kid with a laptop make a track, right.
