Client that supports blocking instances?

My instance has (already) decided to not block a particular instance, which in the majority I find to be divisive, at best. I keep missing the instance source in the user names, and it’s the single biggest source of bad lemmy experience.

Do any of the Lemmy apps support instance blocking at the client? The only other option I can see is creating a new account on one of the instances that does block the instance in question.

hsl,

This is more of a support question, related to using Lemmy. Please see the sidebar for a list of communities that offer support. Removing under rule #3.

Connect has been great for blocking.

shasta,

I’m running Connect and it’s pretty great. On every post I can block instance, community, or user. For comments, you can view user, then click a link to their instance (looks like a overview/summary page) and there’s an option to block instance there.

There’s also a general settings option in the sidenav where you can type in an instance name or community to block it if you already know the name, or remove ones from your blacklist if you change your mind.

Connect has been a great experience. I only put up with the default client for like 1 day because I hated it.

burgersc12,

Connect is my goto

lilcs420,

Im on memmy and it does this. IOS

NotSteve_,

Memmy would never save the blocks for me. I’d save a block but restarting the app would remove them all

Same

gabe,

It should be noted, it is likely coming to lemmy specifically soon.

Yep, currently under review to be included in the next release of Lemmy.

d3Xt3r,

Sync supports this.

Kbobabob,

Yes. Install sync, then come back here and click this.

Settings shortcut: Filters > Domain filters

Or this one, I’m honestly not sure

Settings shortcut: Filters > Instance filters

d3Xt3r,

The domain filter is for posts, so you can block clickbait or trashy websites.

Blizzard,

Holy shir, never noticed this! 10Q!
