@claudiac Thanks to the smart readers on Mastodon, I have a long #TBR list BUT several are unavailable to me because they aren't yet published in North America. I am an old fashioned reader who uses paper rather than a screen, and reads rather than listens. So I am really PO'd that Hannah Kent's Devotion is not available to me in Canada nor is the Georgi Gospodinov's Time Shelter nor is Hanna Pylväine's The End of Drum Time.You'd think that book publishers could #DoBetter, right, @bookstodon ?

Although I am a solid supporter of my local independent bookstore and public library sometimes they just can't get books that aren't published in Canada or in North America. Blackwells delivered Hannah Kent's wonderful #historicalFiction Devotion and Maggie Shipstead's excellent Astonish Me. So grateful to finally have the opportunity to read these marvellous #books. #Reading
@penpencilbrush@claudiac@bookstodon Thank you. My independent bookstore mentioned overseas options too but also mentioned the cost. I think I am also a little hung up on the principle of books not being universally available. 🤔
@miki_lou@bookstodon I've had good luck at Abe Books which sells used books. Right now, I'm waiting for a book from India, for example. Also, I use the international library theough my library. Have you tried these? I apologize if you have and they don't work
