#Gardening question, please help!
I think our #Cucumber has “downy mildew”.
(But it could also be something else - let me know if you know what)

I’ve found confusing information about how to treat it. Often the info is about “powdery mildew” instead. I don’t think that’s what this is?
I also don’t want to kill any of the nice insects that we have around.

Examples of the things I’ve read:

(x) spray with some mixture of non-fat milk and water
(x) spray with mixture of neem oil and water
(x) spray with mixture of baking soda, dish soap and water
(x) remove all the infected leaves
(x) just trim some leaves
(x) do nothing and hope that it goes away.

Anyone here has experience with it and can recommend a tested treatment? 🙏

Edit: fixed formatting because IceCubesApp changed it - sorry for those who already boosted and thank you!

@elduvelle someone just recommended using powdered whole milk diluted in water and they’d been doing this for a long time.

@elduvelle That looks like early stage bacterial wilt to me. If it is, there's nothing you can do. Let your cucumbers go until they're mostly dead and then pull them out. Plant a resistant variety next year, like Arkansas little leaf cucumber.

Nodpisigma,

@elduvelle
I am trying the diluted milk remedy, just regular milk though. For me it’s only one variety affected out of the 2 I am growing this year.

@Nodpisigma interesting, did you get any positive results so far?

Nodpisigma,

@elduvelle
Too soon to say properly, but it’s still alive and growing.

@Nodpisigma did you cut all the infected leaves or left them on?

Nodpisigma,

@elduvelle A bit of both. I took off the worst, but left those that were not badly affected.

    @EOAK thanks for the input!
    Indeed we’ve had lots of rain and it’s been hot and humid for most of summer… but if it was just that it would be mostly the lower leaves right? Now it’s also reached the top ones 😢
    I’ve already trimmed all the infected leaves that I could see (not sure if it was good to do it) but more keep getting infected :(
    Now it’s also reached another of our cucumbers…
    But there are still some good leaves and I would like to think not all hope is lost?🥺

    @EOAK we got lots of cucumbers so far! I wasn’t sure what to expect (it’s my first serious gardening attempt really) but it gave about 8 big cucumbers for now and I can see at least that much still growing on the plant + many flowers.

    It’s probably weird but I feel bad for the plant? It looked so good and was growing so well and now I have to cut all its leaves… :(
