It takes time. From what I can tell when I deleted my account, the admin has to manually delete the account after you notify them when you press the delete account button. Your account should be gone in a few days.
Yep - I posted about it here about an hour ago. From what other users are describing on that thread, it looks like a coordinated porn bot phishing attack from several domains, that then uses multiple redirects which potentially leads them to load websites in the background that could infect your system. Info on the links thanks to @DarkThoughts who risked it all in the name of science.
@gentleman Of course! The Kbin UI for Mastodon definitely isn't super intuitive yet. Hopefully that process will improve a bit once some of the upcoming Kbin updates get released.
What can be done about malicious users? There is someone posting quasi-religious antisemitic drivel in m/news. In reaction to getting downvoted and reported they have started downvoting my posts in other magazines. I'm sure I'm not the only one being targetted. Is there something to do besides block?
@b1ab Voting does seem to just encourage the toxicity Reddit had/has. We also need to rely on moderators which is really spotty. Maybe it's my instance?
Is it just me, or is page 9 of the "standard" feed (https://kbin.social/?p=9) -- and specifically page 9, not any of the other pages (at least, between 1 and 10) -- 404ing?
@kspatlas followed users microblogs appear in sub/microblog along with microblogs from magazines you follow. I don't think there's a way to filter out non-followed in a magazines microblog section or filter out magazines from the sub microblog page but could be mistaken
@insomniac_lemon Strange how its inconsistent like that . Can't block even certain "compatible" instance domains (want to block unilem.org bcus its explicit no defed policy , but typing in kbin.social/d/unilem.org does nothing)
How are Lemmy instances able to even see microblog posts ? Afaik Lemmy doesn't have microblogging feature , interaction between Lemmy and more microblog oriented parts of the fediverse should be more limited right ? Unless it was something they recently added , or a 3rd party app that adds it ig ?
Today, I will be slightly less available as I am in the final stages of taking care of all the formalities, and I also had to handle a few personal matters. Starting tomorrow, I will be back at full capacity again. When this succeeds, in the next releases, I will focus more on frontend and accessibility.
Not sure if this is a bug, but upvotes "randomly" error out?
Occasionally when I upvote a "front-page" post or sometimes even an individual comment it will redirect to an empty page that just says "error". (It's in the kbin CSS format, it's not, like, literally blank). However even after that other posts / comments will upvote without error.
I thought it was related to a login token or something, and logging out and back in seems to re-set but not completely fix the problem. It will recur at some point. Re-loading the page doesn't seem to help.
I'm using various OS setups but always through Firefox, fwiw, but as far as I know no plug-ins should be causing what seems like random errors.
Sorry if this isn't the right thread, I couldn't find "kbinsupport" or "askkbin".
I have the same issue, it seems like some kind of auth token that expires if you sit around on the page for too long. Refreshing always fixes it for me.
Hi. Is it possible to embed a few pictures in a thread? Currently I can only post a picture as a cover and links that allow to open pictures in the thread.
((Figured this belonged in here, not sure why this place isn't showing up as an option for new posts))
My Kbin rambling thoughts...
Ok, thought it was time to post this.
I've been running a testing group over at fedia.io so I could see if'n Kbin was for me, and I'm really happy, definitely prefer it over Lemmy.
Inline images work fine, I host images on IMGBB, and they give you cut and paste code for images, all I had to do was switch to HTML instead of BBCode, and Bob's your uncle, unlike Lemmy and it's markup language where I'd have to code in the images m'self.
Not sure how well it works with Mastodon, I did test follow one of my Mastodons, but considering how often Fedia throws up 500 errors, along with the fact that there doesn't seem to be a way to view only subscribed microblogs, I've been unable to test this
Links parse and thumbnail fine, no work on my part.
So, why does this matter? Well, right now I have my own Mastodon instance, and it looks like Kbin will make a very good replacement for that, from the memes and short content that I post to my personal account to the link sharing on Taurnation which can now become a community, this will definitely be a better fit. It might also replace my Friendica, as long content like this works fine too. Just have to wait for iKnox to start offering Kbin, I've already volunteered to be a guinea pig.
So, what would make it perfect?
An RSS reader, Friendica has this, and I find it great to be able to subscribe to news and comics just like following anyone else on the Fediverse.
A post queue system, good for flood control, easier to use than scheduling posts.
Tag memory, right now it's not remembering tags I've used from one post to the next
A few features I need for this to be the perfect replacement for everything I'm doing.
