Attorneys for #Trump were in NY appeals court Monday in 11th-hour bid to try to delay his impending criminal trial on charges he falsified business records related to hush $ payments/interference.
Lawyers filed papers at the state Appellate Division arguing the trial should be pushed back while Trump challenges a partial gag order against him and argues the setting of the trial in Manhattan would be unfair, a source with direct knowledge of the action #legal
Trump reminds me of the snakes our dog routinely “catches and fetches” from our fields. She arrives, snakehead in mouth, wagging her tail in time with the snake's frantic thrashing. As the snake slows, so does her tail, until both are still. Disinterested, she drops the neutralized reptile. The kids rock-paper-scissors to see who gets to drape it over the fence for the hawk that patrols our farm. The bird swoops then darts into the nearby woods to our collective relief. Good doggy.
Putting on my very best prognostication hat, I expect the venue portion to be rejected out of hand given the location of many of the criminal acts, and the gag order portion to similarly be set side given the extremely clear need to expand it last weekend.
Perhaps there's a chance the court could narrow it on the spot rather than give them a delay, but, again, the gag order seems on very clear grounds leaving no real basis for undoing it.
@GottaLaff sounds like a loser. A big loser. Lost his trial. Losing his appeals. I think it's time to contact Webster's because there is a new definition of loser.
@GottaLaff Can’t argue with that. It just seems like he’s getting deferential treatment unlike other individuals charged with lesser offences. Nonetheless, I do suppose the rule of law, like its twin justice, must necessarily provide mechanisms to avoid injustice even if susceptible to abuse by actors acting malafide.
