@itsfoss I dislike sudden major changes that make you re-install everything from scratch. This just happened with Raspberry Pi OS (debian) because of the switch to Wayland, and I assume others had this same issue as well.
I also think the OS should be saving a list of everything you have installed, and at which version, so that when you do rebuild from scratch, or build a new system in general, you can just run that as a script to get it reasonably similar to where you left off.
@itsfoss I have just tested the apk audit command on my Chimera Linux PC but I am not sure that I understood and can use the result, in general, lack of relevant info for a home user 🌼
@itsfoss Fighting wars about things like which packaging format or init system is the best and why some others should burn in hell. Try to explain these sh*tstorms to a non-tech person.
@itsfoss I'm trying. I'm really trying. ...uuuummmmm.... I'm not a fan of systemd, and I'm not a fan of Canonical's "snaps". I don't like what RedHat did to CentOS. I kinda feel like that's about it.
@itsfoss "Home users" are usually at a loss when Linux problems occurs. As long as one needs the shell for troubleshooting, it remains a system for "specialists". Even "experts" struggle with difficult Linux problems.
@itsfoss Hmm, maybe that still many manufacturers don't take the platform seriously and only offer their products for Windows and macOS? Or maybe fragmentation, e.g. with packages (Flatpak, Snaps, distributions, etc.)?
