I'd like a feature (for Tusky) that shows me the fraction of posts (account's posts / all posts in my personal timeline) of each account I follow, for a specified timeframe, say last 1/3/6 months.
And ideally, there'd then be a feature to show a thinned out personal timeline that contains only toots of the more silent accounts (starting with the most silent) so that there's in total only x number of toots per week (say 70 or so).
@essollteskalieren I like that. There used to be a tool for Twitter that let you sort your followers by their Tweet frequency and I'd use it to cull the noisier ones, but a filter would be better!
I wonder how other fedi people handle this issue: that different accounts (you might be equally interested in) can have hugely differing toot frequencies, which effectively leads to the quieter ones being buried by frequent posters.
Do people use separate accounts for that, like, use one account for frequent posters and another for quieter ones?
That'd seem like a clunky workaround with a few issues of its own.
There must be discussions on this, but I haven't searched the web.
I follow a lot of hashtags, so my home feed gets a lot of randos and I find myself wondering; "who's this clown and who invited them to my timeline" so I have to study all the hashtags to figure out which ones I'm following.
I feel like hashtags you're following should be highlighted.
@schizanon The same. I followed the hashtag Fediverse to stay up-to-date with technical news, and I receive a 'good morning' every day, as if I was interested in it at all.
@schizanon I think following hashtags is an amazing feature, but why not keep them in an extra feed?
Also I’d like notes to be of constant height, leaving media, more than 140?! chars and link previews hidden below “expand” button or sth..
An option to not show users I follow already in searches or hashtag feed would also be cool.
@schizanon the recommendations / auto complete for the search is very bad ie when I type in hashtag stuff. No high priority stuff but how did that made it into production (;
@schizanon
I'd like it to come back to the same place as when I left - if I read the post maker's bio, or follow the link that they posted.
As it is, it seems to move 'up' as much space as new posts have 'bumped' it whilst I was following my nose.
So, a 'place marker', to which to return, please.
@schizanon wud b nice to not be abused by the infinite scroll and other features born in las vegas to psychelogically snare users. would be nice if were more utilitarian. more like a forum. at least as an option to change how things are displayed.
@digit what are the utilitarian features of forums that you like? is it just pagination instead of infinite scroll, or are you looking for some kind of category/topic views?
@schizanon i wouldnt like to hobble your creative imagination, or restrict the ui design to my likes of the past. not psyop abuse seems feature enough. ;) dont mind me, just passed by, offered a gripe against anti-features, perchance that helped steer clear of that tragic area. didnt think i'd hafta then elaborate further on specifics. n_n ... maybe specific ideas will come to me later.
@digit I'm curious because I am building a mastodon client (https://schizo.social) and I haven't implemented infinite scroll yet (mostly because I'm lazy). It has "previous/newer" and "next/older" buttons at the top and bottom. Never thought about it being less psychologically abusive.
