Our common sky beauties. The glorious Red Kite. Just love seeing these wonders every day.

@JimsPhotos Those blue eyes are staring back at you with ISO 1000 at least!😀

JimsPhotos,
@JimsPhotos@ohai.social avatar

@c0c0bird exactly that.

timdesuyo,
@timdesuyo@mastodon.social avatar

@JimsPhotos That appears to be both super sharp and super low ISO. How do you manage that?

JimsPhotos,
@JimsPhotos@ohai.social avatar

@timdesuyo

Good light, Speed 1/4000 and reasonable ISO at 1000.

[In good light higher ISO's do not impact the image like they do in low light]

I take many images with ISO above 2000 as I spend most of my time in woodlands,

@JimsPhotos Nice. I'm usually shooting at f/13 or so to make up for the issues of my 2x tc. Maybe I'll try the 1.4x tc and crop more.

JimsPhotos,
@JimsPhotos@ohai.social avatar

@timdesuyo :) I have a 2x (but rarely use it due to aperture). I pretty much just use my 400mm f4.5 prime with a 1.4x giving me f6.3. Also I find the 1.4 doesn't impact quality whereas my 2x clearly does.

@timdesuyo@mastodon.social avatar

@JimsPhotos Nikon? I suspect we are using the same kit. I shall try the 1.4 more! thanks.

JimsPhotos,
@JimsPhotos@ohai.social avatar

@timdesuyo Yeah Nikon, Mirrorless z6ii (currently)

@JimsPhotos @timdesuyo OK, it's been a while but, I used to develop film and print photos in a shop. The higher the ISO, the more grainy the result. 1000 was like a pebble beach! I assume things are different now? Or is it to do with digital as opposed to film?

Thanks.

@JimsPhotos @timdesuyo PS. Excellent and beautiful photo.

@NormanDunbar @timdesuyo

Thank you Norman

@NormanDunbar @timdesuyo i think its to do with todays modern sensors and their receptivity to light. In daylight to get more speed without adjusting the aperture, i regularly sacrifice ISO instead.

@JimsPhotos @timdesuyo Interesting, thank you.
