In saying that, you are aware that #AmericanEnglish is, in many aspects, more original than British English b/c Noah Webster was so far ahead in his time in preparing his famous dictionary.
Also, have you had the change to place a full printed edition of Webster's next to the Oxford's Dictionary?
Even discounting the many neologisms, Webster has more than 1 million words, many more than Oxford's Dictionary or the German Duden.
Yes, I can totally support that. Being professionals, they would need a CAN editor.
I haven't consciously analyzed too many Canadian texts, but I have read tons of articles and books by British authors. It is not just the spelling. A lot of words are different, too (subway, underground, etc.)
I'm not sure that I could write a longer text in British Englush w/o any Americanisms, though.

Living in Canada one needs to learn a wide variety of terms from many countries...even within our country there are differences.😵
