@Tomsprints2 there are a lot of paintings out there that I wish someone would have photographed when they were painted. I think museums would be better that way.
@bryanhansel being Australian, our lakes are small and easy to navigate, I'd never fully understood exactly what the Great Lakes were like until I read and watched documentaries on disasters on the "lakes". If anything, the lack of salt makes it all the more dangerous
@sortius I used to guide sea kayaking and have paddled some long expeditions, and from my experience fresh water waves are much more difficult to paddle in than salt water. They are steep and have short periods and move faster. If you get a chance watch the documentary "Unsalted."
@smallsees I've seen 20-footers and have seen the aftermath of waves bigger than that on the big lake. the light in this lighthouse is 48 feet (15 m) above the water level.
