A few months after the release of her debut album Horses, Patti Smith made her UK debut on May 16, 1976 on two nights at the Roundhouse in Camden, supported by The Stranglers
@historyofpunkrock I’m always struck by how clean cut they looked. It’s hard to imagine those young men in collared shirts producing Disorder or Shadowplay.
Double 7” gatefold (1989)
Original UK pressing on Blast First Records (Import)
Working at an independent record store allowed me to order imports like this one. Pretty sure I heard “Jan Brady” on the radio and immediately wanted to get this disc.
Turns out my favorite track is their cover of “Get Off The Road”. I played the hell out of this on my radio show.
Also got to meet these crazy chicks when they toured with L7 and Fugazi in ‘92.

Lux Interior and Nick Cave - giving their best mischevious looks - backstage at Perkins Palace in Pasedena when Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds opened up for The Cramps on June 22nd, 1984.
@historyofpunkrock I graduated from a California high school in 1980 and my yearbook quote was some bullshit from Kenny Rogers, and yet I love and identify with everything you post as if I were a punker back then because it's so fucking real. THANK YOU for what you do. It actually helps. It actually matters.

@historyofpunkrock That album made me crazy when it came out. My favorite is Black and White ("The enemy has cut down all the power / London south of the Thames is invaded").
